Facelift Vento - second coming!

Russia gears up for the Polo sedan (Vento) facelift. Launch in India is speculated in this festive season - Oct /Nov 15.
A new grille, low-set badge, flatter bonnet and foglight enclosures will be seen on the Vento facelift, a new set of wing mirrors which get integrated indicators.

The rear gets the chrome strip, currently placed on the lowest point of the bootlid, is now just above the registration plate enclosure and also gets a cutout for the exhaust tip.

Excellent observation! Yep they do look like the sensors. So the Vento Highline will be now much more equipped than the Jetta Trendline? Automobile market is surely weird.

The changes seem to be in line with those seen on the Jetta facelift. The grille is larger and the air-dam is wider. Wish the second slat of the grille met the headlights at their corners. It would have given a better-finished look to whole front end. The badge now sits on the larger grille and does not require cutouts in the front bumper or bonnet.

Luckily, the chrome strip on the boot does not appear too thick. A thicker could have looked really out of place considering the rest of the the car is relatively chrome-free.

I'm not sure if we'll get to see many mechanical changes when this facelift comes to India.

Yeah mechanical changes might not be there considering they just launched a new 1.5 TDI and 7 speed box recently.

On my wishlist is darker interiors (atleast do away with the beige carpets and follow the black carpets of the Rapid). Secondly the dash needs to be black and beige, not greige and beige.

Apart from that will be good to see paddle shifters, reversing camera and auto dimming IRVM. This is the norm in this segment with the Verna and City.

Hi All,

I was reading the below article which mentions that an updated vento is to be released in upcoming months.The report further states that though this might have few mechanical changes as well as cosmetic the engine specs might remain the same.

From the snap of the Russian Polo Sedan posted, the auto-dimming IRVM is clearly visible.



The best part is, this IRVM also comes with the rain and light sensors just like the current models of the Octy, Jetta and Superb:



so auto-wipers and auto-lights (+ coming home and leaving home) will be built in, provided it makes it to the Indian Vento facelift.

Cruise control would definitely make it since the current Rapid DSG gets it and the current Vento 1.5 TDI gets the updated BCM which supports the cruise control functionality. It is just a matter of replacing the left stalk.

Liked the subtle changes. And the additional features are always welcome. Since the Vento is only for Russsia and India, I assume that these changes seen will come in as is in the Indian version. Unlike some other cars where versions seen in other countries is drastically different from what we get in India. Especially from the engine options and nice to have features.

I agree, Volkswagen does need an equivalent "Zeal" Edition. Atleast they could offer it as an option. Beige does make it look more roomy, but I'd prefer black too.

PS: Forget the Vento with paddle shifters, if they offered the GT TSi with the flappy paddles, I'd happily plonk my money for the car without the boot.

EDIT: Is it just me or everyone agrees that the Vento in the pictures look horribly under-tyred?

But paddles are pretty much plug and play on the TSIs, only the steering has to be changed. So when do we see your TSI?

VW unveils the Polo sedan in Russia - To go on sale in second half of June.

The facelifted model comes with altered fenders, a modified front grille, new headlights with optional bi-xenon system and LED daytime running lights integrated, new exterior colors and new wheel designs. Inside the cabin Volkswagen has installed a new steering wheel, as well as a revised center console.

The new Polo sedan will be offered exclusively with a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 85 PS (63 kW) or 105 PS (77 kW). It can be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic.


Three trim levels will be available – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The standard equipment includes air conditioner, front and rear electric windows, central locking, ABS, a trip computer, etc.
