2015 VW Polo GTI -150 PS for China

Hot hatches seem to be the flavor continuing from 2014. Could this come to India next?

VW seem to be releasing the Polo GTI for China. What is new then?

Not only is the 2015 Polo GTI sold there with a 1.4 TSI, but it's not even the twin-charger engine from the pre-facelift model( Europe).
European model now packs 192 PS and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. That translates into a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 237 km/h

Quote:
The Chinese are getting a single-turbo 1.4 TSI rated at 150 PS (110 kW) and 250 Nm of torque. The car is noticeably less hot, reaching 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.
This engine is the same one offered in Europe with the Audi A3, as well as the Polo BlueGT model, but without the cylinder deactivation tech.

Short answer - I don't think so.

There were numerous reports floating around the inter-webs about the same, weren't there? As much I'd like to see a Jetta 1.4TSi plonked into the Polo's engine bay, I doubt VW India would do it. For one, it will push the price up by quite a bit and I think it is safe to assume no one wants a 13 lakh rupee Polo. Also, with the shoddy cost-cutting VW is upto on the GT TSi - wonder how the GTI would be equipped. I mean, c'mon Volkswagen. If I trust you with a million rupees; is leather around the handbrake and gear lever, fabric doorpads and half decent tyres too much to ask for?

Cheers!
