VW group is on an assault with Crossover launches- plans CUV's in all its subsidiaries.

We believe that small crossovers are the next big thing, so we want to tap this market before our rivals do’

Reports indicate' Q Junior' will be the smallest supermini soft-roader from Audi due by the end of the decade.



This 'Junior' CUV is apart from Q1 (the baby SUV codenamed AU276) that is planned for 2016. Tha Q Junior (name not confirmed) will be based on the next generation A1 which will use the MQB-A0 platform.

Audi has access to the cheaper and more compact MQB-A0 components set shared by Polo/Fabia/Ibiza and A1 - this is the package that’ll spawn the new Junior model, as well as planned baby SUVs from VW and Seat.

It could carry an estimated starting price of less than €20,000!

What's with this small SUV craze?! This is now going too far if its starting to afflict even premium car makers. Audi can call the Q1 a junior SUV or a CUV or whatever fancy stuff they want but if it's based on the A1 then it's only going to be a A1 cross like the Polo Cross

New Audi Q1 SUV set to arrive in 2020 - expected to get the nod for production.

The second-generation A1 arrives at the end of this year and will share a large proportion of its DNA with the Q1

Both new models will be based on the smallest version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, which is already found beneath the skin of the latest SEAT Ibiza and VW Polo. That means the Q1 will use the latest generation of petrol and diesel engines, which will include a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a more powerful 1.5-litre unit, and a 1.6-litre diesel.

Audi has a wide range of SUV's planned for in the coming years. The German brand has already a flagship Q8 coming soon and an all-new Q4.

On top of that, high-performance versions of the brand’s Q5, Q8 and next-generation Q3 are also in the pipeline.
