German website AutoBild.de reports that the next-generation Volkswagen Jetta will be built as a four-door coupe, and it will be larger than the current-gen Jetta.

Based on the MQB platform, it will offer the same amount of in-cabin space as the Octavia but will be more plusher and premium.

Scheduled to come out sometime in 2017, the all-new Jetta is believed to grow in size and offer roughly the same amount of interior space as the Skoda Octavia, but obviously with a more posh cabin to justify the premium.
Auto Bild says it won't be a mundane sedan anymore as Volkswagen wants to roll out a four-door coupe so expect a more sloped roofline.
It will be based on the MQB platform and obviously is going to be closely related to the Golf while production will remain at the Puebla factory in Mexico.

They are little dull although it exudes build quality. The superb from skoda is sharp and solid. Hope VW adds a bit of sharp lines to make them look little better. Maybe they cant stomp on Audi's territory and are forced to give such boring looking cars.

Also for a sedan, wouldn't it compromise on the head room if they go for coupe like roofline?

Production of the Next GEN Jetta to start in Dec-17, confirms in its Annual conference last week.

Little is known of this car but highly speculated to be a model very similar to the VW Lamando sold in China, which is nothing more than a medium sedan based on MQB platform, the Golf Mk7.

Going by the plans of a December unveil of the 2018 Jetta (NA), now speculated to be on test. Likely to debut at the Los Angeles Motor show at the beginning of December.



The 2018 Jetta will be built on the MQB platform and it looks bigger than the outgoing model.

Overall, it's a much more rounded, sleeker shape than current, square-shouldered, slab-sided VW sedans. The nose is fairly raked, and the roof has a bit of a fastback look, which is enhanced by the short rear deck. Both of these styling cues are shared with the new Arteon sedan. The grille looks larger and more prominent than most current VW cars. The greenhouse looks fairly spacious, with the glass area extending beyond the back door into the D-pillar. The wheelbase looks reasonably long, as well. These details seem to indicate that this car is significantly larger than the current Jetta.

The new 2018 is to be unveiled in December but now a new set of pics emerge, though still to be ascertained whether this is Global or the China specific Jetta.

Design seem to be inspired by VW's new design language , first seen on the ARTEON.

This has a very nice side profile but the front looks a but plane jane. The rear is nicely styled following the example of the Superb and A4.
Once again a car that it irrelevant to India as VW isn't going to make anything new in India.

Even if VW had a change of heart and brought this to India, it would manage 500-700 units a month and that is just ridiculously low. In china they to 10X volumes for every model sold in India.
