I know a few TBHP members are thinking of going to the US for higher studies. I cam across this article and hope you fid it useful

:cool: Thats the difference between the life of a student in USA and in India...
Here any such best list would have been for bikes... And yes no safety issues here!! only mileage and some decent power!!!
And if by chance someone did dare to put up such a list for cars.... Surely no sonata nor a civic nor an SUV would have featured in that!!!:p

If students only lsten to what they are told...
out here the civic is pretty common for students. cheap prices, good reliability and excellent insurance rates makes it a favorite for us.
but there are other cars as well which are favs with students, mostly second-hand:
VW golf
VWjetta
Toyota Yaris / Echo (mostly for the chicks - but fantastic mileage and insurance rates)
and well, tons of others including various Buick, Nissan and Dodge models. My friend in Toronto, a student himself, recently purchaed a second hand BMW 3 series. and such cars are getting more and more popular.
any student here wont be caught dead with a Hyundai thats for sure. as for bikes, all bikes are atleast 600cc with the CBR and the Gixxer very popular here in Canada.

Interesting list.
Surprisingly the Sonata gets 4.5/5 in JD power manufacturing quality rating whereas honda civic gets 3.5!

but this list is little supid. The best cars for students is 5 year old civic or corolla or sentra costing between 1500-3000$ because thats what students afford.

This list is more of a "Best car for Desis on H1"

A 5 yr old civic still costs a hell of a lot more than 1500-3000$$ :)
