OK,OK... I just might get over the fact that my favourite girl cut her waist-length har and now has a crew cut! I guess this is going to be a very nice car.

Re: The Next-gen Nissan Micra. EDIT: Revealed at Paris Auto Show

Folks at The Irish Times are one of the first to drive the new Micra, and they're very impressed with Nissan's new supermini:

Quote:
Unveiled at the Paris motor show last month, more than a few French noses were put out of joint by the general consensus that Micra was the surprise star of the show.

...

The engine choice is the impressive 898cc three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine or Renault’s 1.5 dCi turbodiesel. Both have an output of 90bhp but for most Irish buyers the petrol is the answer.

Fitted to our test car the turbo version proved to be peppy, enthusiastic and yet refined. It’s well soundproofed in the Micra and you only start to hear a little whistle and whine above 5,000rpm. Mated to a slightly rubbery five-speed transmission it’s a winner here.

Nissan must reconsider their foolish decision of not introducing the latest Micra in India!

NIssan's Micra reviewed. Launch in Europe Feb 2017

Quote:
What is worth shouting about is the impressive refinement, even when the three-cylinder motor is revved - although you will need to do that, because performance isn’t especially scintillating. On the motorway and when pootling around town, the Micra is quiet, which will let you get the most from the optional and seriously impressive (for a supermini) Bose sound system. For a few extra quid each month, it’ll be worth the outlay.

Re: The Next-gen Nissan Micra. EDIT: Revealed at Paris Auto Show

Nissan reveals Micra's prices in the UK, starting from Rs 10.38 lacs (converted) and topping off at around Rs 14.98 lacs (converted).

The new-generation Nissan supermini has been significantly upgraded and is now set to go against more premium hatchbacks such as the all-new Ford Fiesta and the Volkswagen Polo.

Quote:
The new Nissan Micra will start from £11,995 when it goes on sale in the UK in March. The range kicks off with entry-level Visia trim, progressing through Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta and range-topping Tekna, which will cost £17,295.

The new Micra’s dimensions are different from those of the outgoing model, placing it in the mainstream of European B-segment hatchbacks for the first time. Length is now 3995mm (up by 170mm), while a width of 1742mm (up 77mm) makes the new model the widest in its class. Height is reduced by 69mm to a class average 1452mm (the previous Indian-built edition made head room for turban-wearing owners a priority), while the wheelbase is 75mm longer at a class-competitive 2525mm, which benefits boot space in particular.

The Micra will have a specially configured version of the 89bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel found in smaller Renaults, plus a turbocharged 0.9-litre three-cylinder petrol engine of the same output. A 69bhp, non-turbo petrol triple will arrive later, and a 120bhp version of the 0.9 turbo will follow that. All engines get standard manual gearboxes, but Nissan is likely to offer a CVT auto in at least one model.

Re: The Next-gen Nissan Micra. EDIT: Revealed at Paris Auto Show

The new Micra sure looks way way better than the current one. I hope Nissan has plans to bring this to India. If indeed Nissan plans to push it against the likes of Fiesta hatch, I doubt if it would come to India. Having said that, the 1.5L 90BHP sounds a superb mile crunching cruiser for the highways!

Re: The Next-gen Nissan Micra. EDIT: Revealed at Paris Auto Show

I complain of quality very rarely, but 3 cars have failed to impress me completely, of them two were the first-gen Etios and Indica, simply horrible.. they fixed it with the subsequent tweaks though. The third car is the Micra, was a passenger in the back-seat a couple of times in Uber.. everything from the door-shut to interiors and seat comfort was not impressive, bad infact. The rear seat was a perfect bench and very bouncy at that. The Sunny is much better in those aspects though nowhere close to the Hyundais.

Hope the new-gen Micra took care of those problems, looks a bit too much like the current i20 though. The earlier fluidic iterations of Hyundai were criticized for overly busy side profiles and rightly so.. this design by Nissan beats all of them, specially that swoop from the bonnet all the way to the back.

Nissan needs to do a lot to cut through the buyer base in India, starting with better service, better pricing and newer, more exciting models. Until then their main buyers will remain the Middle-East (not including Israel).

Mat Watson - 2017 Nissan Micra review

Nice safety kit and audio system. Guess everything wont make it to India. Overall, it looks smart.

Re: The Next-gen Nissan Micra. EDIT: Revealed at Paris Auto Show

Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Citroen C3 shootout. Nissan's Micra disappoints.

Volkswagen Polo tops the list.

Quote:
The reinvented Micra’s styling, fresher interior and improved infotainment bring it up to date. It also offers plenty of efficiency, making it a good choice for business users. However, competition in the supermini sector is fierce, and the Nissan isn’t as good to drive as the Polo or as comfortable as the C3. Some practicality drawbacks and a lack of sparkle see it finish a close third.
