They've used GnR's Live and Let Die for the commercial.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

The S2E1 did not quite work for me. The jokes arent getting any younger, and feels a bit too scripted , like they are trying too hard. I liked their older selves a bit better.
I wish they get the mojo back in their road trip parts. Think the first America special (S09E03 IIRC) or the Vietnam special. Those were simply spectacular back then.
To cut a long story short, GT simply doesnt have the re-watchability that the older seasons of TG. I hope they prove me wrong in the remaining 10 episodes.

Took a serious turn with Hammond's Rimac exploding, didn't it? Thankfully he escaped with just a fracture. I agree the jokes fell flat but seeing the old bogies, struggle on narrow cobbled streets, with their supercars was hilarious. Hope the jokes get better.

I watched episode 1 yesterday and felt the same as some of the comments earlier. It's just beginning to feel a tad too scripted without the natural spontaneity. in fact, the Texas pickup joke that JC made felt completely uncalled for.

I agree. It will be great if they can get a rendition of I Can See Clearly Now by Hothouse Flowers from the very first episode. It is a lovely song and now it has a piece of history associated with it. Can't get better than that!

By the way, I watched S2E2 and it was a blast. Loved it. Conversation Street was a laugh riot! Its got a hearty challenge and there is also a car review thrown in for good measure. Also, the new Ford GT. With a promise that the fast Ford will be back on the show again. So, how bad can it be? And its not like all the episodes of Top Gear were good. Everyone got their off days. LOL

And yeah, we have a new fast driver!

Loved S02E2. I can confidently say: The old top gear is back!! Won't spill too many beans, but I'm sure, many will love it.

Shashi

Agree - S2 E2 reminded me fondly of the trio while at Top Gear. Hope the uptick continues. One would almost think that they acted on our poor feedback in the previous page!

Loved Episode 2, but didn't think too much of Episode 1. Wish it had more 'supercar redlining' in it.

Spotted this weird ad for the show at Mahim Causeway. Not sure what the message is?

Speaking on ads, there were advertisements on FM radio on last two Fridays about GT.

Me thinks this week's episode is going to be a riot.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

Just finished Watching S2E03 - must say it was a disappointment except for the Kia hot hatch v/s stakeboarders chase and the Chiron parts.

The middle of the show, starting from conversation street - all the way till the celebrity laps is a big "can skip ahead". Conv St. got only a couple of good laughs but otherwise felt very boring (they are overdoing Hammond's crash). Celebrity laps was well...meh...

The Chiron bit was really good and they should have made it the main story of the show. Ep2 was very well executed - tight scripting and a good finish. Hoping the rest of the episodes are more grippier than 1 and 3...

Watched S2E3 and I liked it. Not as grand as E2 though. Conversation Street was really hilarious, it is becoming the best part of the show like 'The News' in old Top Gear. The bits with the Chiron was also done well.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

They need to include a lot more, and better background music as there is in TopGear. That makes a lot of difference while watching the show. Yesterday, I dozed off twice in the last 10 minutes of the show where Jezza is chasing the Chiron across Italy. Absolute silence. No speech, no music. Just an engine growl which doesn't really enhance the overall viewing experience. TopGear still has that adrenaline upping tune in the back, for all its films.

Nevertheless, better season than S01. The first two episodes this season were far ahead than ep03, but we have to make peace with the fact that TopGear was the holy grail. It cannot be matched, however large the budget sponsor is from Amazon. They are growing old, and tired. James May looks poorly nowadays.
