I can't see these two incidents as an anaology!
With Cech, Chelsea was in a big predicament. They could neither deny him the chance to play regular football for another club based in London due to the glorious career that he had with Chelsea nor equip Arsenal with a world class goalkeeper. But, the transfer went through. And I really don't think that piece of business is as much of a win for Chelsea as its for Arsenal. The champions just conceded twice and Courtois is sent off as we speak.

Similarly, BBC found it difficult to drop Clarkson after the fracus. The boys are a pack and BBC would have known they will lose all three if they sack Clarkson. Yet, it went through to Amazon' big gain. And if you think TopGear is past it, just watch the other programs like Toy Stories, Things You Need To Know, Engineering Connections, Inventions That Changed the World to name a very few which the boys have hosted individually. The trio makes great content. BBC just handed Amazon a massive audience and a bucket load of common sense in TV programming on a platter. Let's wait to see how it all pans out.

re: Top Gear trio to return with a new show "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

Mr. Clarkson to make $15 mln per year with Amazon.

Based on his new fee, it's widely believed that Jeremy Clarkson will become the highest paid television host in the United Kingdom. The Telegraph is reporting The Orangutan, as he's not so affectionately known by his cohosts, will make 9.6 million pounds or $14.7 million per year (at today's rates). That works out to about $1.225 million for each of the planned 36 episodes. Hammond, May, and EP Wilman will be making a smidge less, of course. The Daily Mirror claims they'll each make around $11 million a year, or about $915,000 per episode.

The new show may be called “Gear Knobs”

Quote:
It has just been revealed that the new show on Amazon Prime hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May is speculated to be called “Gear Knobs” according to trademarks registered by the law firm Olswang, which is believed to be closely associated with Clarkson.

Two weeks after the trio had signed the £160million deal, Jeremy Clarkson’s law firm Olswang registered the trademark “Gear Knobs” making sure it can be used for everything from the actual television show to all merchandising relating to cars and driving as shown in the pictures below.

The very same newly formed company has also registered “Speedbird” as a trademark for driving-related merchandise which we would guess to be a character on the trio’s new show, possibility the equivalent of the stig.

I sincerely hope the new show isnt called Gear Knobs! It sounds like a low budget spinoff - which the new show certainly is not.

I am surprised they were granted the trademark for "Speedbird" because Speedbird is the callsign of British Airways. All ATC communication features BA flight numbers being called Speedbird XXX.

Cheers

Is this what one calls being very modest. LOL!

Money and influence doesn't seem to be a problem at Amazon, I like already.

Jeremy Clarkson’s getting the whole band back together for Amazon Prime’s version of Top Gear, and we’re not just talking about Richard Hammond and James May.

Amazon bosses have reportedly poached the old Top Gear production crew from the BBC, luring them away with huge pay rises.

An insider told The Mirror: “Several of the crew who were freelance are now working on the Amazon Prime car show. It is quite common for freelancers to move and they were not contracted to the BBC.”

Jeremy Clarkson in this commercial for Amazon taking a jibe at BBC, talking about his unemployment, teasing their upcoming new show and promoting an Amazon product. Oh, and all this in just 30seconds.

Jeremy Clarkson Reaches £100K Settlement With Former Top Gear Producer, Makes Public Apology

Quote:
The fracas saga has officially ended with Jeremy Clarkson making a public apology and paying around £100,000 to Oisin Tymon, the Top Gear producer who was attacked in the famous incident.

Tymon who suffered a split lip as a result of the assault is to withdraw a personal injury and racial discrimination claim as he was seeking a six-figure sum in damages.

Jeremy Clarkson released a statement today saying: “I would like to say sorry, once again, to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath. I want to reiterate that none of this was in any way his fault.”

“I would also like to make it clear that the abuse he has suffered since the incident is unwarranted and I am sorry too that he has had to go through that. I am pleased that this matter is now resolved. Oisin was always a creatively exciting part of Top Gear and I wish him every success with his future projects.”

The true figure of the settlement remains confidential but it is said to be in the low six-figures. Tymon will return to work at the BBC after months off work.

Mr Tymon's lawyer, Paul Daniels said to UK's Telegraph: "The action involving Mr Tymon has been concluded. Oisin is keen to put the matter behind him now that it has been brought to a close. Oisin greatly appreciates all of the support he has received, including from the BBC. He remains focused on the creative work he loves at the BBC."

Well, not so sure about this clip. However, those Mercedes are very nice cars. They make stonking good classic cars. They are relatively cheap, easy to maintain, parts availability is great, they drive really well and are reliable.

Dont like muchwhat they have done to it.
