The BMW X2 (F47). EDIT: Now unveiled at Detroit Auto Show

These are the first spy shots of the new BMW X2 (F47)

As you can see from the pics the X2 has a very low and wide stance, but it will ride on X1's UKL platform.

Expect it to have same power trains of the X1 (3 & 4 cyl) & will be available in FWD or X-Drive (AWD).

Expected to be launched in 2017

Spied yet again;

The BMW X2 (F47). EDIT: Now unveiled at Detroit Auto Show-newbmwx2cuv10.jpg

^ This pic clearly shows us that the X2 has an lower & more curved roofline than the X1. IMO a bit of EVOQUE'ness in the design is visible

If you squint your eyes a bit, the rear looks like KUV 100!

X2 is smaller in length than X1? The latter definitely has a better SUVish stance

Oh C'mon now Thats a negative perspective squinting.

Positive is that when i squint my eyes and observe the rear of the X2 i think of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio

What's with the BMW logo on C-pillar? Totally out of place!

I beg to differ. The KUV looks like a tall UV, the X2 looks like a hatch on steroids.
The X2 seems to be positioned to take on the GLA. While the X1 combats the Q3. MB doesn't really have an entry-level SUV, I refuse to accept the GLA as an SUV so I guess BMW is trying to take on MB as well as Audi with the different offerings.

It does look a bit out of place because no one has done it but I think it will be something that might grow on us.

After building a hatch on stilts, bmw decided to use a design element from one of their earlier legendary models on a front wheel drive contraption.

I would say it's out of place in this class of vehicle, not as a design element per se.

The X2 one looks very smart, but more aligned to the likes of an Audi Q2. And it’s getting a bit confusing - Audi has a Q2 which slots below Q3, and here X2 goes above the X1?

X4 is a coupe version (more stylish) of the X3, similarly the X6 is of the X5. Likewise the X2 is derived form the X1.
The X2 is more stylish coupe like version of the X1. Similar size to X1. Just more stylish (BMW think).

Hence i believe should sit above the X1

BMW launched the BMW X2 today at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

The BMW X2 (F47). EDIT: Now unveiled at Detroit Auto Show-1-x2.png
  • An all-wheel drive powered by B48 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
  • That 228 hp engine will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
  • 0-60 mph in about six seconds.
  • It’s lower, sharper and far more dynamic looking than the X1.
  • It also has some interesting design quirks, such as the seemingly upside-down Kidney Grilles and the BMW roundel on the C-pillar.

Maserati has done this before and it looks good on them but it sure is looking out of place on this BMW.

Hammond can put those kidney grilles the right side up.
