Given how well the Polo body fits on top of this high-riding test mule, it’s safe to guess a production version would use Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. The T-Cross Breeze concept has a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 110 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque, but expect a broader choice of powerplants when the model hits showrooms. All-wheel drive could even be on the options list

VW T-Cross for India likely to get 1.2 TSI engine. Based on the MQB A0 (zero) platform shared with cars like the all-new Polo with plenty of tech and quality on offer
The localised 1.2 TSI four-cylinder motor with a similar amount of power (112hp) and a retuned and more powerful version of the 1.5 TDI (117hp) that’s currently made here. GFor the rest of the world,VW is likely to use a three-cylinder 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

The T-Cross, for example, is a clear departure from VW’s current style sheet and comes with more muscular and sinewy lines. The nose of the car is extremely modern with an all-new grille and headlight combo. The block-like nose and chin of the car is well defined with square LED surrounds for the fogs and the flanks have large, properly fleshed out wheel arches, made possible due to the flexible MQB platform. The T-Cross concept currently carries an extremely high-tech interior that eschews push buttons in favour of soft-touch surfaces and touchscreens and some of these systems are likely to be introduced on the production car as well. The T-Cross SUV is also likely to be pretty spacious. This is because the stance of the car is quite upright, and so, like a tall boy, there’s likely to be more than sufficient space in the rear

Skoda/VW Strategy on A0 platform- Skoda is also hard at work putting together its version of a MQB A0-based SUV. Slated to hold a position slightly lower than the VW, both companies are likely to work on the project together in India, as they had done with the Vento/Rapid sedans.
Exterior design will differentiate the Skoda entry level C/SUV with the T Cross.

the production T-Cross is likely to inherit several of that car’s engines. The first is likely to be based on the engine of the T-Cross concept.
That car used a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 110bhp and 129lb ft of on offer, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It’s thought this entry-level engine will be joined by one or two turbocharged four-cylinder units in the production car.

The concept was claimed to be capable of reaching 62mph in 10.3sec and a top speed of 117mph, while offering 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 115g/km. Similar, economy-focused performance can be expected from the production car’s powertrain line-up

" Volkswagen has started testing the new T-Cross SUV on international roads. This new SUV is likely to be unveiled in 2018 in production guise. The model will share its underpinnings with the next-gen Volkswagen Polo, but sees a slight increase in dimensions in all directions.
Taking inspiration from the T-Cross concept seen at this year’s Geneva motor show, the production version is likely to wear a full-width grille and wider wheel arches to give the new compact SUV a more distinctive, rugged image.
These looks will be shared with the production T-Cross’s larger sibling, which will be based on the Golf and take influence from the T-Roc concept that was unveiled in Geneva two years earlier. Both SUVs will sit below Volkswagen’s Tiguan – which is headed to India soon – and the Touareg models. The small SUV market that the production T-Cross and T-Roc will be positioned in, is currently a hot segment globally.
The engine is likely to be based on the T-Cross concept's turbocharged 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine with 110hp and 174.9Nm of torque on offer. Driving the front wheels was a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This entry-level engine will be joined by one or two turbocharged four-cylinder units in the production car. In standard form, the SUV will be front-wheel drive, but all-wheel-drive versions will almost certainly be offered too."

VW's smallest crossover - 'T Cross' now on video in Germany!

Though late into this segment the group has announced a slew of crossovers starting 2017. This will be the first to come sitting beside the new Gen Polo in the MQB platform.

The as-yet-unnamed crossover is predicted to have styling broadly similar to that of the bigger Tiguan. Here it shares the bigger car’s broad stance and tightly-surfaced flanks. The swage line that emanates from the trailing edge of the front fender and runs back to the rear light cluster is lifted directly from the Tiguan, as well.

Yet the hexagonal grille, flanked by fashionably high-set headlights, and the steeply raked rear window lend the car a sportier look than its upright sibling. It looks chunky - if not exactly funky - which should appeal to the urbanites who typically buy this sort of car.

Based on the MQB platform the C/SUV will differentiate itself from the 2017 Polo.

I am looking for TDI DSG based SUV and this fits my choice , Launch dates seems to be late 2017 or early 2018 , thats a year from now . I think if the rumor are true I can wait for a year or so . May be next years Indian Auto Expo can give us some concrete info .

Volkswagen's Polo based CUV in the B - SUV segment is rendered and believed to be close to as what is coming soon. To go on sale in 2018.
The crossover should reach dealers at a price near 20,000 euros.

The smallest CUV (as of now) from the VW group will be ~ 4.20/4.30 metres in length and will take on Renualt's Duster, Ford's EcoSport and Suzuki's Vitara.

Will be in the MQB platform and will follow the T Breeze concept shown in March 2016.

The daytime running lights will follow the outline of a square body, separate from the headlamp units, which will have a cut sharper and will be enclosed inside the mask. The side will be more elaborate and, thanks to the presence of contrasting moldings, while the line at the base of the side Windows form a step near the third glass. This detail is used to give greater dynamism to the car, along with the ribs on the hood and the deep cut on the side. The crossover will be based on MQB modular mechanics

One of the most popular offerings by Volkswagen (VW) in the Indian market has been the Polo and if a report by Cars is to be believed then the German automaker will soon launch a Polo-based SUV.
The SUV will be based on the T-Cross concept, which was showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and will be based on VW's MQB AO platform. The report goes on to say that the car will be powered by a three-cylinder 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 175 Nm and 110 bhp. There will be a diesel engine option as well, which will be a 1.5-litre unit that is likely to produce 120 bhp. Transmission duties will be handled by 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Upon launch, the car will be going against the likes of already established players in the compact-SUV segment like the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta and is reportedly going to be priced between the Rs 9-13 lakh bracket
