India will get the T Cross as a different version but most likely to similar to the Chinese model.

The new T-Cross has a choice of four turbocharged engines: three petrol and one diesel.

The two 1.0 TSI three-cylinder petrol engines with petrol particulate filter generate 70 kW / 95 PS or 85 kW / 115 PS.
The top model is the 1.5 TSI four-cylinder engine with 110 kW / 150 PS.
Completing the range is a 1.6 TDI four-cylinder engine with 70 kW / 95 PS. All engines comply with the latest Euro 6d-TEMP emission standard.

- The 250 TSI Total Flex engine generates power of up to 150 hp (110 kW) with gasoline or ethanol at 4,500 rpm. The maximum torque, also with both fuels, is 250 Nm (25.5 kgfm) - it will be the highest torque in the category. This engine will be combined exclusively with the six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic function and shift paddles for steering wheel changes.

-The 200 TSI Total Flex engine develops up to 128 hp (94 kW) at 5,500 rpm, with ethanol - with gasoline, at 116 hp (85 kW) at the same speed. The maximum torque is 200 Nm (20.4 kgfm), with gasoline or ethanol, always in the range of 2,000 to 3,500 rpm. This engine can be combined with the manual or automatic transmission with Tiptronic function

T Cross for China and S America will use the MQB A0 Modified Platform as in the Virtus while its European Counterpart uses the MQB A0 Platform as in the Polo.

Expect design cues of the T Cross for India to follow the emerging market build.





Launch vehicle for S American markets shown was the top-of-the-line Highline 1.4 version with all the equipment available, including digital dashboard.
But the market will have TSI engines of 1.0 and 1.4 liter, with manual or automatic 6-speed gearbox, always with front-wheel drive.
Prices are likely to follow the Honda HR-V matching variant-variant pricing.

VW did not bring the new steering wheel that debuted in the European T-Cross

All about the MQB A0- modified platform.

Everything seen painted in orange is unique to T-Cross, including virtually the entire central section, much of the rear structure and the support of the front seats.

The H-point of the SUV, that is to say, the extent of the driver's hip, is 58 mm higher than that of the Polo, to give that sense of "dominance" of the traffic that sports-utility fans alike they love it. The wheelbase (2.65 m) is the same as the Virtus, exemplified by the gray painted area, which shows the 8.8 cm more than the hatch. Already the trunk has a capacity of between 373 and 420 liters, depending on the slope of the rear seat

In addition to being longer than the European model, with 4,199 meters in length, the national T-Cross is also 9 mm higher, with 1568 mm.

The suspension follows the same concept of Polo and Virtus, with structure McPherson at the front and torsion axis at the rear. However, the rear axle is stiffer and the front components, such as the stabilizer bar and the suspension arms, are thicker. Also the engine-shift adjustment is exclusive to the SUV, both in version 1.0 TSI (128 hp and 20.4 kgfm) and 1.4 TSI (150 hp and 25.5 kgfm). There will also be a version equipped with the 1.6 engine aspirated (110 hp), but only for export.

For S American markets the next SUV will be the Tarek, the mid-sized model that will be made in Argentina to challenge the Jeep Compass.

Good product but I find the Euro spec car to be better looking specially from the front. Could give Creta and HR-V a run for their money if priced right. But now a days the interest in VW brand has died down in India mainly because of their aging line up. They need to freshen things up by launching new products like this and the new Polo/Vento to start afresh. I still miss my Polo but an existing Polo/Vento owner has nothing to upgrade to since Jetta has been discontinued. They need to get serious else they will have to follow the Chevrolet way in India.

While Americans will not get the T Cross, Volkswagen has other plans.

Volkswagen will design a CUV for the American market that will rival Jeep Renegade and Honda HR-V.

Little is known about the crossover at this point, but the publication suggests it won’t arrive until 2020. The model will definitely be late to the party, but it will likely ride on the MQB platform and feature a turbocharged four-cylinder engine as well as an optional all-wheel drive system.

IF they introduce this in India, with sun-roof and same funky looks, this could do well along with Creta. Tiguan couldn't do well thanks to understated elegance which people here don't appreciate (it's does have some charm IMO).

This is the basic variant of T Cross ( S American market)

It was then easy to notice the differences of this basic model, starting with the simpler visual. The front grille is entirely black, while the headlamps have halogen lamps (the top has LED lights) and black mask, and the wheels are smaller (16 "to 17" rim) and have no diamond finish. At the rear, the spoiler of the trunk lid is also black and the underside of the bumper loses the chrome trim that crosses the part and forms the contour of the double (false) exhaust outlet

Another difference can be seen by the 200 TSI logo, which indicates that the T-Cross caught is equipped with the 1.0 TSI engine of 128 hp and 20.4 kgfm, even of Polo and Virtus

Volkswagen has already started the series production of its new compact SUV, the T-Cross. The first car in the series, turquoise, assembled with 1.0 gasoline engine TSI 115 HP, 6-speed manual transmission and is destined for Germany.





The production will progressively increase after Christmas and plans to reach its highest point (700 units/day) at the end of the first Four months of 2019.

Before the T Cross goes on official sale in APRIL, VW announces a pre-sale offer of 800 units that goes on sale on 19th Feb for the Brazilian market.



-In the pre-sale will be offered only two versions: Comfortline 200 automatic TSI (estimated price of R $94,990 Reais) and intermediate R-line (estimated price of R $101,990 reais).

- The T-Cross 200 TSI adopts the same 1.0 TSI motor of the Polo/Virtus, Turbo Flex, with 128 hp and 200 Nm of torque, while the T-Cross 250 TSI comes with the 1.4 TSI 150 CV and 250 nm engine of the Jetta. In both cases the transmission is automatic six-speed.

Pre-sale price of T Cross for Brazil starts at R $84,990 ( ₹ 16.2 L), reaching R $109,990 (₹ 21 L).

Visual:

Volkswagen T-Cross has a nice set in terms of style. Although it is only 4,20 m in length, it seems larger. This is due a lot to the long wheelbase, the same as Virtus.

Inside, the style is focused on the technology and perceived quality impression in the region of the panel and seats. As already seen in the Polo, Virtus and Jetta, there is an emphasis on items that consumers are enjoying and not exactly in applying top quality materials and luxurious finish.

Drive: - 250 TSI

In both Normal and Eco modes, the four-cylinder AI211 with direct injection and turbocharged offers immediate responses to the throttle, quickly boosting the turn, but not much, as the torque is plentiful. The acceleration is vigorous and it can be noticed the forward wanting to leave before the generous force.

The resumes are excellent, especially in the Sport mode with the S-shift, making the turn at 4,000 rpm and keeping the engine full in the deceleration, waiting for the command to launch the T-Cross in motion.

Running at 110 km / h, the rotation is at 2,000 rpm. In urban traffic, it revolves around 1,500 rpm.
Without a doubt, the T-Cross 250 TSI performs above the segment average

The electric steering is nice and precise, even more in Sport mode, when it gets firmer. The brakes are more than enough and give even a sports driving. The same can not be said totally of the suspension, which has calibration more for comfort than for stability.

Summary:

Overall, the Volkswagen T-Cross 250 TSI is a runner with more breath than necessary, having a good control and offering great ride comfort. In its content, its filling is very good, while in the finish, focuses more on the visual than on the material, seeking what enchants the eyes. In current days, more quality in materials means higher price, unfortunately.
