Richard Hammond critical after car crash. EDIT: Is fine now, but crashed again!

Earlier it was Steve Erwin now him .....

Reported as "At 5.45pm (on Wednesday) evening we received a report via the fire service of a male person trapped in what was described as an overturned jet car which had been driven on the airfield."

The poor bloke turned out to be Richard Hammond ! Was shooting for another steamy episode of Top Gear. Reported to be driving at 315 mph and not 280 mph as said earlier.

Hope he gets out of danger soon ! Bless him !

Terrible news. How can we have Top Gear without the hamster ?? Hope he gets well soon. He was trying to break the UK land speed record.

Am not really sure if he was qualified to do such a thing. Road cars are fine but you need a lot of skill for something like that.

That airfield is not all that long so run out space is limited

Thats seriously bad. Poor guy. Pray for his quick recovery.
315mph! And it was on the straight part of the track.
May be a driver error, but cannot rule out car problems since these jet powered cars are non-predictable.

That is the best part of the news. Good to hear that.

Didnt Clarkson put up HUGE signs to remind him where to break while testing the CCX or one of its derivitives on this airfield?
Hope Hamster gets well soon so that he can come back and have his usual arguments with Clarkson and May.

How safe could a custom dragster possibly be? Not as much as a regular production car. Wait...which regular production touches 480+?

He was a great host. Hope he surfaces well from this accident.

Thats really bad news . Hammond provides for some some great comic relief along with his test drives

Hope he recovers soon and is back in action

Oh Crap, that's really sad. Without him Top Gear would never be as funny or good, hope he recovers quickly. Get well soon Hamster.

EDIT: Latest update is that his condition is stable now. And for all you Richard lovers it's been found that his Teeth are perfectly fine

P.S. Sorry but couldn't help cracking that joke!
