New Skoda Yeti SUV to get more conventional crossover design. Speculated to launch in 2018.



The Yeti replacement with more space, a new engine range and a more traditional crossover look.

It will share much of its DNA with the new SEAT Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan, with all three SUVs riding on variations of VW’s MQB platform – and a hybrid is on the way, too

the new model will feature more traditional styling with a sleeker look, incorporating the design language set out by the Vision S concept from the Geneva Motor Show, also set for the Kodiaq seven-seater which will be unveiled at October’s Paris Motor Show.

The new Yeti will be more practical than the current car as well, with a bigger boot and more space in the cabin for passengers. The SEAT Ateca has a 510-litre load area, so expect an increase of over 100 litres on the current Yeti’s 416-litre capacity

engines to be carried over from the VW Group range, including a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol as well as 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesels

Along with four-wheel drive, a DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be available for the new Yeti. It’s likely that there will be more safety equipment than ever as well, including an auto braking system and a parking camera.

I really did not like the direction Skoda is taking - making its designs less quirky. That quirkiness added to their brand, I think. The Yeti and Roomster sold well, were uniquely styled, and stood out.

The new Yeti will blend in. More the pity.

This looks almost like the Skoda Snowman. For a second I thought I was looking at the Snowman. The quarter glass on Snowman is more rectangular than triangular. That's about it.

Skoda's Kodiak SUV will be officially revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2016.

At the 2016 Geneva Auto show the Vision S concept car was shown which previews the new car’s design.

And if you ask me, that's a good thing. While there are fans of quirky designs, they are in the minority. Cleaner designs are a must to appeal to a wider audience (just ask daddy VW).

Personally, I love Skoda's new design language seen on the Octavia & Superb. Much prefer these over the outgoing cars.

The Kodiak is a full-size SUV that will sit a segment or two above the Yeti.

The new Skoda Yeti II will grow to 4.40 meters in length. In addition, the Czech is marked clearly sportier. The petrol engines will produce between 125 hp and 220 hp, diesel ranging from 120 hp to 184 hp; next wheel is again front-wheel drive .

Likely to debut in late 2017 or early 2018

2017 Yeti spied on test in UK. Anticipate an mid 2017 launch. India launch likely in 2018.

Compared to its siblings, the biggest difference comes in the form of a front fascia that features a trapezoid grille with upright struts. Yes, it’s remarkably similar to the physiognomy introduced by the VisionS Concept and the soon-to-debut 2017 Skoda Kodiaq
