There is no doubt that the new generation corolla will have a diesel engine as well in most markets where it retails,However toyota is working very hard to try and provide a hybrid alternative as far as the petrol engine option is concerned in International markets like australia.
They are working on cheaper technology than the present hybrids,since corolla buyers may not be able to presently available hybrid technology.

Whether the hybrid corolla makes it to India don't know but makes sense in our mileage conscious market and also gives toyota a double edge over honda[diesel engine as well as hybrid engine option].Also getting the Toyota prius as talked about earlier in some threads here may not make as much business sense as a hybrid corolla.

The 2008 toyota corolla for usa is out and there seems to be no platform change so is actually anything going to happen in 2008 or would we have to wait till 2009 for india[since the corolla seems to be doing quite well in most markets except ofcourse India].

Is this a new launch in USA? I thought they will be launching the all new mini- camry design in US since its already available in Europe and parts of Asia.

The Mini-Camry Corolla is already in US. Thats the one that will be offered in India I guess, does not look like its an all new platform.
