Renault Clio could get 271 HP Engine

You read that right. But that's not all. Renault also says the new Clio will have a manual gearbox with the 271 hp engine. Seems like a dream.

It is being claimed that the Megane's 2.0 litre 271 hp engine has been put into the new Clio. This could be another marketing gimmick to hype the new model. The 'Trophy' version of the Clio ended up having an AT after similar hype. Renault says they will unveil the new car at the Monaco GP.

Although, this does the raise question, when will car manufacturers launch sporty coupés and hot hatchbacks in India? There is a severe lack of sporty cars below at least 30 lakhs. The Polo GT TSI and Abarth Punto are the only hatch options for a car enthusiast currently. Will Honda ever relaunch the Civic? Is practicality killing the Indian sports car market?
