Ford is launching the new F 450 heavy duty truck along with the redesigned F series for 2008 MY. Just loooook at it, drips of testosterone. This ones powered by a 6.4 L turbo diesel which puts out 350 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. (Similar figures of the upcoming 6.7 L I6 Cummins diesel powered Dodge Ram).

Well surely the truck looks like a monster, but i dont know why Ford is hell bent on reviving the fortunes of the company by churning out newer gas guzzlers when they should be actually focussing on introducing better fuel efficient cars...

Its not about reviving, but the F series is an integral part of revenue for FoMoCo. It forms half of their North American profits and over 20% of their revenue.
BTW, this beast can tow 24,000 pounds! I am not sure who might need so much pulling power,(except a few potential Kenworth buyers) but I like the idea :).

The F Series Truck is THE best selling vehicle in the USA (or atleast it was till a year or two back). It outsells the no.2s (either Honda Accord or Toyota Camry) by a long mile.

Holy mother Mary. Diesel. 350 Bhp. 650 Lb/Ft. 881Nm. Jeezuz. That thing's a bloody locomotive.

Which is why Ford should sell it in India. The F350 sells for about 28K, in the U.S. Bring in the F 450 for, say, 35K USD, or 16L approx. So that'll be about 22L if Ford imports it as kits. Screw the Endy.

In case of dollar v/s rupee, the automotive world seems to have its own unit of conversion, which works out something like $1000 = Rs. 1,00,000 :p. So 22 lakhs for this one sounds a bit far fetched.

I know what the F series means to the Ford motor corp... but a time comes when it has to look ahead... why do they think that a piece of history will be able to do wonders in the future... Agreed that it is THE best selling car in the US, but surely the camry is catching up and the F series IS loosing ground...
BTW i never meant to be cynical of this move of Ford's... was just expressing what i felt "could" have been a better option for them...
