A turning point in my life and career: Moving to Germany. Being in the automotive industry, it was always my fond wish to visit Germany and experience the rich auto culture and what best way than to live here and breathe in the culture one bit at a time? I'm writing this travelogue after nearly six months of moving to Germany and am posting the best experiences of living in the mecca for auto enthusiasts.

I'm sure most auto enthusiasts who have visited Germany would have visited the must see attractions : Mercedes Benz Museum, Porsche Museum and the BMW Welt. There are however some events which happen only once a year and they offer something the museums can't. One of them is the Stuttgart Old Timers' Show. This show is held in March of every year and is more of an auction than just a show and tell show. Most of the items are on sale and include special exhibits by auto manufacturers and accessories alike. Being held in Stuttgart, the majority space is ruled by Mercedes Benz and Porsche, but there was a veritable smorgasbord of all other marquees as well. For me, it was trip back in time to see all my 90's poster greats come to life. They say you shouldn't meet your poster stars in real life, but in this case, it was the exact opposite: seeing these living, breathing beauties was simply an experience never to forget. The event is held for 4 days, with the first two days being for the serious buyers and collectors and the weekend for the 'visitors'. My pics will just go through the highlights of the show and there were a lot!8

The show had 7-8 sprawling stalls, covering a huge area in the Stuttgart Messe. The stalls were categorised mainly by manufacturer brands but there were also lots of combined stalls by private auctioneers, classic car groups

Being my first time at such a show, I was confused where to start as each stall looked equally tantalizing. Being in Stuttgart, let's start with their home heroes, the Porsches and the Mercs

My favourite part of the show, the Italians. I'm sure many will agree with me that the 80's and the 90's were the hey days of awesome Italian design, every model drool worthy and fantastic!!

Time for some original American Muscle. Going by the size of these models, feels like they were on a steady diet of fries and cheese, Why would one need an 8 foot long car to ferry just two people? Anyway, they do make for imposing designs and look mean.

This was my first visit to such an event and I was overwhelmed with the scale of it and the variety. Next time, I might plan to go for multiple days so I can cover the event in much more detail.

Thank you Mr Shankar, the Triumph model is the Triumph GT6, supposedly dubbed as the poor man's E type

Nice pictures for the less fortunate folks like me to drool over. You surely would have meant 18 foot, right?
