by elegant you mean boring...like they are doing now...curr 7 was the best and they went down hill from there..to the level that their new models are plain ugly and boring....

I only hope to see a sexier looking 7 with more muscle and edge to it..

They're no longer elegant, sleek or beautiful. They're just hugely revolutionary...and often controversial. Murder to anyone who calls the E65 elegant.

News on the forthcoming 7 series ----- Auto Express UK

We’re expecting the new 7-Series to have a completely new front end, similar to the 6-Series styling, and sources say the current model’s extravagant design will be toned down quite a bit.
In addition, we’re anticipating the sedan to have an even more elegant look than ever before. The position of the headlights and turn signals indicate low mounted wrap-around headlights and a wide grille, as well as a sleeker body and a more elegant overall appearance. In addition to the exterior updates, BMW will be introducing a new iDrive and – rumour has it – an eight-speed transmission. The new 7-series is not expected to be released until sometime during the 2008 calendar year, and will arrive as a 2009 model.

I guess this is an artists rendering, the real car would look wider and lower. But hope they once get back to the 4-eyes flanking the kidneys front end.

Which one, the E38? Not many will mind paying for those cars if available from the factory.

True..I like the E39 better. The series before the bangled versions came out were simply amazing! A colleague had the 330ci (M3), and boy-o-boy...that was awesome!!

Agree that the E39 was a looker, but whatswrong with the current 335Ci, 328Ci and M (all coupes, not sedans)? I also like the current 7 series except for the rear bulges.

While its nice to see BMW get back to classic lines, dont flame me saying the current designs do have a certain snob jeune image to them which grows on a person.

The 3 series has been kept away from Bangle-influence as far as possible. However I have heard some criticism about not Bangling the 3, which is strange!

I like E39 too,but isn't that 5 series as against 7 (For that matter E34 is arguably the cleanest I like)

Right, I meant E46.. these numbers confuse me all the time. Why can't they use simple, easy to remember nomenclature?

The first time I saw the Z4, i was like 'you have to be joking'..it was horrendous. Love or hate his designs, they have sold hot cakes.

It was such a shame that people were beginning to think they will get a mini Z8 as the successor to the Z3. But strangely that land shark appears to be getting more friendly!

I hate Z3. I love Z4. If not for the hot weather and the fact that I don't have covered parking, I would have be driving one now.

You may not love it the moment you see it, but the looks will grow on you.
