The reason why I feel so is summarised below:
Ha!
Yes I saw my first Jimny in Dubai in 1999-2000.
Then saw many in Europe 2002-2003-2004 and of course in many other countries and continents like Mauritius, USA, UK, Ireland, Australia and S E Asia etc in the course of my gallivanting about. Always loved the vehicle. Always a head turner for me.
It was even showcased in the Koramangala Bangalore Indoor Stadium in 2004. I remember asking the blunderbusses of Maruti who were there, whether they would let me buy it! Of course I got sent off rapidly with egg on my face!
Recently went to the Dubai Showroom and saw it again. Lovely lovely little Jeep.
Just perfect for a small family. Anyone buying an Ignis or WagonR or EcoSport or indeed any of these hatch back cars in India, can easily consider it.
But then, as always, our market is one that prefers Form over Function, as I ve lamented for many many years.
But no harm dreaming a bit!

Same thing about their beautiful little 2 door Vitara with 4WD and all the bells and whistles. So common abroad. So unattainable here! So unutterably sad that Maruti don't believe that we poor hungry "Kitna Deti Hai" driven, Indian people need/ want such vehicles.

I am sure this is not a photograph of the actual model, but just an artistic render. Your earlier post: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/intern...ml#post4128168 also has this image.

This looks like someone let loose the Mahindra design team at the Suzuki studio! Check out the ORVMs- look like KUV100, the grille looks like the Ingenio etc!

For enthusiasts to cheer - Here are the first pics of next gen Suzuki Jimny seen testing on Public roads.

The successor of the Suzuki Jimny is likely to be presented at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, most possibly as a near-production concept and with a market launch set for 2019.

It looks like the new model will retain the hardcore off-road character of the Jimny, adopting a square, upright bodywork that reminds us of a shrunken Defender/Wrangler/G-Class.

Underneath its tough shape, Suzuki plans to use a ladder frame combined with their AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system to ensure that their new tiny off-roader will continue to offer unparalleled capabilities once the tarmac stops

it’s safe to expect Suzuki to use its latest BoosterJet turbo petrol units, including the 110hp 1.0-liter engine that debuted in the Baleno.

The boxy lines of the all-new model, along with the round headlamps, small rear windows and the spare wheel stuck onto its tail makes it looks like a miniaturized G-Wagen. That’s certainly not something to complain about, as an old-world, boxy, SUV look is only going to enhance the vehicle’s appeal for the off-road aficionados.

Glad that the retain the ladder-frame chassis, but only a 3-door? That may affect its prospects in India.

re: New Suzuki Jimny in 2018

Suzuki Jimny is speculated to be made in India. In Suzuki's lineup it will sit between the Ignis and Vitara.

Takes the path of an evolutionary design as it it still loved by enthusiast , even after 19 years of its last release.

Quote:
The overall shape and design of the dashboard remains remarkably similar, but there are one or two important changes. For instance, a touchscreen infotainment system is perched atop a new centre console boasting refreshed switchgear, while the driver is treated to a new steering wheel and fresh instruments house in boxy binnacles.
Quote:
Engine details are thin on the ground for now, but a new Suzuki Boosterjet engine seems unlikely to feature under the bonnet. Instead, the firm’s simpler 1.2-litre Dualjet would be a better and cheaper fit, and would still dramatically improve on the current car’s 162g/km CO2 emissions and claimed 39.8mpg fuel economy.
Quote:
As for the equipment, two levels of finishes (GLE and GLX) are predicted with connection elements, wizards, 7-inch touch screen, leather seats, lights with LED technology and other pieces - according to optional or standard equipment - that We can see in current models of the Japanese range as Ignis. Of course, the instrumentation will be renewed.

Quote:
Its global production will take place in the Indian city of Gujarat and will be based on the ladder platform. It will equip the Japanese AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system, a transfer case and a more advanced limited slip differential.
Quote:
The Jimny illustrated in the official image was fitted with an automatic transmission and had a steering wheel quite similar to that of the Swift

A final leaked image reveals that at least in some markets, Jimny buyers will be treated to plenty of customisation options and colour combinations – a far cry from the current model’s more humble one-size-fits all approach.

re: New Suzuki Jimny in 2018

The new version seems too much squarish, IMO. A bit more "rounding" and a wrap-around rear glass would have given it a more modern appearance.

But my all-time favourite in this segment is Rubicon

If Jimny retains its current DNA, it is going to have a great fan following.

Can any one give detail about this All Grip system. Is it a proper low ration 4x4? If it is AWD , the gypsy will lose it's legendary capability and that would surely be nothing less than heartbreaking for people in the hills, and offroaders.
