Default Rumour: VW to build SUV based on the Amorak pickup truck

http://m.autocarindia.com/Article.as...2794&type=News

So looks like VW is serious about their SUV onslaught.

A few months back VW had denied having any plans of an SUV based on the Amorak pickup truck, citing lame reasons like non conformity with brand values and all, felt just like Audi's hatred for RWD cars.

But looks like the pickup truck based SUV segment is too hot for VW to ignore. The Amorak is already one of the best engineered and refined pickup truck in the market. An SUV based on it will surely be good.

The upcoming Nissan SUV based on the Navara and this VW SUV will make the pickup based SUV range complete from most companies.

Well, the D segment is not having enough volumes in India. Fortuner and Endeavour sell around 500 - 600 per month. All other D segment cars sell much much less. If this SUV falls in same price bracket, none of the three cars may have good volumes.

They should act fast. It all also depends on looks. As per the image in the link it looks like a more sobered down version of the sister without the buldging fenders. Also proportion wise it looks stretched. Engine wise and quality wise I'm sure they will be on the top. Now only boils down to how soon they get here. Currently their product line-up is quite stale.
