First 2020 Toyota Supra Rolls Off The Line.
Quote:
Unlike most of Toyota's products, the Supra is not built at one of its own plants. Instead, it's manufactured under contract by Magna Steyr in Austria, along the same assembly line that produces the jointly developed BMW Z4

Re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

Toyota seems to have actually understated the figures for the Supra. The claimed figures are 335 hp and 365 lb-foot torque, upon Dyno testing the numbers obtained were a whooping 376 bhp and upwards of a whooping 410 lb-foot of torque!!!
Relevant section in the video starts at 4:16

This has been corroborated by Car and Driver (339 bhp, 437 lb-foot) as well as Motor Trend (332 bhp, 387 lb-foot) in the US as well. Now why would a company actually do this? Is this some kind of gentleman's agreement within the supercar community (like the superbikes manufacturers had in the 90s)?

Nothing new in this, all BMW engines usually have their hp/torque figures understated.

Good to know. Any insight as to why though? And is it always so much higher than claimed?

May be due to some of the reasons (Guess work);

- Government regulations
- Confusing Competition
- Optimal HP/Torque may vary on conditions such as Fuel, Air (Hot/Cold) etc hence better to under rate HP & torque numbers than get into trouble later as different countries would be having different weather conditions.

Also when i dynoed my F30 328i almost 4.5 years later too it had about 12 more HP than what the specification sheet stated.

Re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

Next-gen 2025 Toyota Supra to be fully electric, EV (with manual transmission), according to rumours from Japanese media.

Quote:
the next-generation Toyota Supra - expected to arrive in 2025 - will continue to be rear-wheel drive and its design will be reminiscent of a mid-engine sports car.

Currently, the only EV platform Toyota has is the e-TNGA that underpins the Toyota bZ4X. BestCarWeb speculates that the Supra EV will use a version of the e-TNGA and that it will have 450 PS to 500 PS at its disposal.
Quote:
the EV Supra could use the pseudo manual transmission that is being tested by Lexus on the prototype UX 300e, which has a rev counter, manual gear lever, and a clutch pedal.

Re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

The next generation of the GR86 could be utilising the turbocharged 1.6-litre 3-cylinder engine as seen in the GR Corolla and GR Yaris. While the two hot hatches are four-wheel drive (4WD) and would retain the rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout.

Latest rumour is not just the removal of the flat four boxer engine but that the next GR86 could be a hybrid powertrain. The addition of an electric motor could see the power boosted from 304 PS on the GR Corolla to between 320-330 PS. That's a significant boost from the existing GR86's 237 PS from the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre FA24 unit.

The next-gen GR86 could be developed by Toyota independently with the platform being adopted from the Lexus IS albeit in a shorter wheelbase.

It will be a little larger than the current model, with a total length of 4400 mm × and width of around 1800 mm
