The last generation Supra was discontinued around 2002, but its finally set to make a comeback

This time as we know it has teamed up with BMW to co-develop this car (BMW version will be the Z5)

As you can see there are BMW bits in the interior (Steering, centre console etc) but the back lit dials, gauges are Toyota-like. Exterior of the Supra will look closer to the current GT86 & the FT1 Concept which was showcased earlier in 2014.

re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

A quick fact;

In 2012: Toyota + Subaru = GT86 / BRZ

By 2018: Toyota + BMW = Supra / Z5

Spotted again and seen speeding away.

Personally not happy with the noise it is making.

Remember that rear wing teaser image that Toyota revealed earlier this week? Well thanks to a Japanese car magazine, we can take a look at the new Supra before its Geneva reveal.

That's definitely got inspiration from the previous one, but that nose looks quite RX-8'ish for some reason.

re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

For several years now we have been waiting and hoping that it would become an actual thing. And now it finally has. The Toyota Supra is back.

Toyota unveils New Supra at Geneva International Motor Show.

This is the GR Supra Racing Concept, and it’s quite possibly one of the prettiest cars to come out of Japan in the last decade.

I have to agree with you on this! One of the best Japanese car designs to be released in recent years.

As per the below article from Top Gear, the Toyota Supra will only be unveiled at the Detroit Show in January 2019, and will get a 450bhp BMW straight-six engine.

Quote:
The new Toyota Supra is coming – it’ll be unveiled at the Detroit Show in January 2019. Meanwhile we have this track-look concept. Its body panels are production reality. Just take off the rear wing, flicks, splitter and sports-hall-sized diffuser.

The Supra is a joint project with BMW, but, “they are not the same kind of car,” the Supra’s project chief Tetsuya Tada tells Top Gear. “We will continue the heritage of the Supra, a pure sports car. There are fewer common elements than you would imagine. It’s not like the GT86 and Subaru.”

And Tada would know. He led the GT86 project too, and he ensured that was a pure sports car. Remember, the new Z4 will be a gentler soft-top. “The exterior and interior design [of the Supra] is Toyota.” In other words, very different from the BMW, which we’ve also seen in concept form.

Tada calls the Supra the GT86’s “elder brother”. But it isn’t bigger than the GT86, as it’s a pure two-seater.
What about the mechanicals? “I spoke to Supra fans. The six-cylinder engine, turbos, and front-engine-rear-drive layout are vital.” BMW does those things doesn’t it? “Yes, so we collaborated.”

Which means, and Tada confirms this, the Supra won’t use the Lexus V8. A BMW six then? “Few car companies have straight-six engines,” he replies. “Toyota did but it doesn’t any longer.” Toyota’s European R&D head Gerald Killmans later confirms that it’s a recalibrated version of the BMW engine. We suspect the M3’s twin-turbo. That means 450bhp ballpark.

What about a hybrid? “We are looking at it, but it’s not decided,” says Tada. Given Toyota makes a hybrid Le Mans car, that consideration must be pretty serious.

Suspension, Killmans says, is also similar in basic principles to the BMW system, but with a different tune. The Supra will also be built at a BMW factory, Tada acknowledges.

It will carry GRMN badging beneath its Toyota logos. That’s Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring. GR is Toyota’s new specialist sporting division. Tada says there will be GRMN versions of lots of Toyotas, starting with the lairy little Yaris GRMN.

re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

New Toyota Supra Caught Riding On Production Wheels. The fifth generation was spotted carry not only the final body, but also what seem to be production-spec wheels featuring a snazzy two-tone look. Wrapped in Michelin tires, the alloys were trying (but failing) to hide the Toyota logos and our spies have told us the front axle had 225 rubbers.

re: The 2019 Toyota Supra! Now unveiled

This is a extremely weird decision by those companies. One of the main reason Toyota Supra became famous is because of the 2JZ engine. Giving Germans the engine development while Japan does the design development is quite weird. I though it would be other way around.

I don't necessarily believe it should be called Supra just as the new NSX shouldn't have been called NSX. These cars have absolutely nothing to do with their older generation by any means and should have been launched as new and different cars. Just my opinion.

The Toyota A90 – or the new Toyota Supra – made it's world debut at the Goodwood Festival of speed. This is the first Supra since the '90s and the world has been waiting for years for it to arrive.

Here is another first drive review of 2019 Supra.

In the end he also hints about the upcoming super sport car from Toyota Gazoo Racing – GR Super Sport. (Toyota will build Hybrid Hypercar linked to Le Mans racer)
