4 tyres

brake, accelerator & clutch (optional)

the only idea being if its a evolution why go backwards on design

I would like to see the CLS version of this car !! The front end of this CL seems to be more sculpted and sporty than the CLS. But having 2 extra doors and real rear seat helps the CLS

What's the use of a CLS version. The CLS already looks good and this car sits at the top in Merc line up.The target audience of this car is different than the CLS.
CLS is more for the stylish mid-manager E-class types where as this one is for the truly wealthy.

The Cl was always a 2 door,4 seater GT and that is not bound to change ever.

yes it is also called that but the CL sits above the S-class.it more of a niche product than the S.

What I meant was.. Mercedes replicates the similar front end design across the entire range. I was just thinking the next CLS facelift model inherits the front end of the CL.

This one has to be the UGLIEST rear out of all Mercedes sedans and coupes imo. This car seems totally non-mercedes to me. I like the front though.

You guys need to see this CL without the AMG kit. The twin exaust just make it look mighty but I think without the AMG kit this car can pass by as an Hyundai from the rear.

I sorta disagree. Albeit a BMW fan, I've been waiting for Mercs to start looking like this for a long time now. Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.

Because Mercedes CL's rear looks like a copy of the '99 Acura CL. But obviously it has a fresh look with a few curves.

Check it out:

99' Acura CL

07' Mercedes Benz CL

car crazy kid, I agree every tom dick and harry can make out a 3 pointed star but by looking at the 3 pointed star logo. I just mean that mercedes is in transition and has changed their model line up completely. Therefore it is getting hard to recognise a 3 pointed star. I don't mean to say I hate the all new Mercedes because it does not look anything like the older models, rather I absolutely adore the new S-class (who doesn't) and the CLS.

The Acura CL was introduced in 1997 and the Mercedes CL was introduced in 1998. Makes me think if Mercedes took the model name "CL" from Acura ... just kidding

The last of the W140 S-Class coupes were known as CLs.

I mentioned Hyundai because this time Mercedes has copied their car from some other car brand, which hyundai always does with most of their car exteriors. For this case Mercedes CL has 'only' coiped the rear.

On the other hand Hyundai has taken copying from other brands to extremes. For instance the old Sonata, new sonata, new Santa Fe, new Veracruz..... Have no idea when will they learn!

Poor Toyota's Lexus always looked like an Ikjyoted version of the current Mercs at the time... Not a surprise, considering that the Lexus design department consists of a scanner, a low-cost photocopy machine, & a coupla monkeys from Karol Bagh.

Lexus is for pikers...
