Mercedes has released a teaser video that partially reveals its all-electric SUV, which is set to be shown in the concept form at the Paris motor show.

From the teaser video, it is evident that front fascia is entirely made up of illuminated elements.

Mercedes' electric-vehicle range will be badged EQ; so following the carmaker’s existing nomenclature, the electric SUV concept will likely be called EQG once it reaches production. Mercedes has trademarked both EQ and EQG, as well as other names based on the existing model range – names like EQ Inside, EQ Boost and Generation EQ have been also filed.

Just like Volkswagen’s EV concept, which is also being demonstrated at the Paris motor show, Mercedes’ first all-electric model is scheduled to go on sale in international markets in 2019. The concept is claimed to provide a "clear insight" into how the interior and exterior of the car will look upon release.

Rivals like Jaguar and Audi are also said to be working on all-electric SUVs, which will undoubtedly rival the EQG when on sale. Meanwhile, BMW has long been rumored to be expanding its sub-brand into the electric SUV market as well.

Mercedes-Benz EQ A sketch shows an EV hatch!

Mercedes-Benz will be focusing on its EQ electric vehicle sub-brand at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show. The brand will show its “first, fully electric EQ concept vehicle within the compact car segment” at IAA, called the EQ A.

The EQ A will be the starter car and volume seller of the EQ sub-brand for Stuttgart’s electric cars. It will sit under the EQ C, an SUV, when it debuts in 2020. The EQ C was previewed by the Generation EQ concept from Paris 2016, where Mercedes announced the sub-brand. Recent trademark applications hint at future plans for an EQ E and EQ S electric flagship.

A performance version with the addition of a rear motor (for 4WD), as used in the EQ C, is a possibility.
Mercedes-Benz’s compact car plant in Rastatt, Germany, as the factory that will churn out the EQ A on a dedicated EV line. The EQ C will be made at a separate plant in Bremen.

Mercedes-Benz EQ A Concept Puts 249-Mile EV package.

The first EQ-branded model on the road will be the EQ C in 2019, and it’ll take inspiration from the Concept EQ crossover from last year’s Paris Motor Show.

The three-door hatch has all-wheel drive from 2 electric motors and a total output of 268 hp.

Mercedes extends its plans for a full lineup of electric cars by unveiling the EQ A concept for a futuristic three-door hatchback. In Frankfurt, The model joins the Vision EQ ForTwo Concept that imagines an even smaller electric model for future car-sharing fleets.

Mercedes Benz EQ C Electric Crossover Spy Pics.







Mercedes-Benz EQ C Electric Crossover is based on the brand's Electric Vehicle Architecture platform, which is specifically for the future electric vehicles. To be manufactured at the company's new EQC in Bremen, the Mercedes-Benz promises the EQ C Electric Crossover to be able to generate a total of 402 bhp from its two electric motors. Expected torque is 700 NM from the 70-kilowatt-hour battery system, which claims to travel around 500kms. The company also claims that the EQ C Electric Crossover can do 0-100kmph in less than 5 seconds.

EQC all-electric SUV platform revealed.

the EQC is equipped with a 70 kWh battery pack for a range of ‘up to 500 kilometers’ (310 miles). At the time, it was based on the NEDC standard and the real-world range or EPA-rated range would be expected to be significantly less – around 250 miles. The range should be competitive with the several other all-electric luxury SUVs coming to market in the next few years.

As for power, Mercedes says that the EQC is equipped with two electric motors on the front and rear axles for a total power output of up to 300 kW. The automaker claims that it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in under five seconds.

New Mercedes-Benz EQC: all-electric SUV to go on sale in 2019 will rival Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X.

This is the first of up to 10 new pure-electric models due before 2025.

Stylistically, it leans heavily on the early Generation EQ concept of 2016. It retains the same basic shape and five-door layout of the earlier concept, albeit with altered detailing such as the front-end design.The EQC achieves a drag coefficient of less than 0.30

At 4761mm long, 1884mm wide and 1324mm tall, the EQC is 105mm longer and a considerable 315mm lower than the GLC, with which it shares its 2873mm wheelbase.

With seating for five and 79 litres more luggage space than the GLC, at a claimed 500 litres, the EQC will count versatility as one of its strongest selling points.

A genuinely poor effort from an automotive behemoth like Mercedes.

So they revealed an electric SUV two years after the I-pace, which is both lighter and has a better range than the 'new' Merc concept!

The biggest advantage of an electric vehicle is it's packaging, since the electric power-train (battery, gear box, motor combo) occupy a lot less space than a conventional IC power-train. Precisely the reason that the likes of I Pace or the Tesla range have much more interior space compared to it's wheel base.

Strangely Mercedes's new dedicated Electric SUV has a third of it's length sacrificed to a front bonnet when it needs no engine! Disappointing, considering an EV vehicle enables designers to explore ideas due to the engineering freedom available. Yet Mercedes cannot unhinge itself from a habitual design template! This would have been acceptable for a run of the mill car adapted to become an affordable EV, but no. This instead is supposed to be a premium offering from one of the german trio!

This should have been a momentous occasion where the world's oldest car maker steps into the new age with an electric vehicle to showcase it's EV designing prowess. Instead in reality after all the glitz and glamour it's a poor show and a lot left to do in order to catch up!

I believe this is done so they can simultaneously produce cars with ice/hybrid/ev drivetrains on the same factory assembly line. This is a sensible thing to do if you want to dynamically adjust production volumes of different drivetrains depending on the consume trends.

Mercedes is looking at this as an issue of drivetrain choice for the consumer instead of launching radical futuristic-looking EVs.

The deciding factor would be real world drivetrain performance (range, reliability, fun factor, etc.)

The Mercedes-Benz EQC doesn’t have a trunk !




Daimler intends to produce the EQC together with the C-Class, GLC and GLC Coupe, on the same production line in Bremen, Germany and would like to do so at minimum investment costs. The powertrain needs to be installed using standard equipment.
