Loosely based on the Polo which its shares the platform and is very similar to the column "B", but thenrear changes everything, start at the distance between track centres which is the same as the Jetta: 2.65 meters-8.6 cm higher than the Polo.
The rear design is totally new in the Volkswagen range, and, in many ways, is very reminiscent of the Audi A4

The interior of the Virtus brings the same panel of Polo, but with new technology, and improved finish.

Versions and prices of VW Virtus will only be revealed in later stage, closest to the beginning of sales-starting in January.

Simple crisp and beautiful. Very understated and similar to the present gen Vento. The ODO console is very futuristic that has the capability to double up as navigation display; the overall car looks to be knitted together really well !

Let's hope it makes way to the Indian shores too !

Simple and clean design, however it just looks like a Vento with the rear of a Jetta. The Rear seems too butch and awesome for the feeble Front.

The interiors excellent, especially the Speedo console.

I would not be surprised if VW India decides to sell this in India as the replacement of the Jetta

Looks fantastic! Almost a mini Jetta. This car (even if priced at a premium) would have been so ideal for VW to take on the Vernas and Citys. Of course, one major problem : Its not an SUV nor is it a wannabe

I would say it is better to have a TC than the problematic DQ200. Looks like VW has decided to drop the DQ200 at last!

What is the displacement of 200 TSI engine?

Also, is 126 hp @ 5,500 RPM achieved using petrol or should ethanol be the fuel for those figures - as mentioned earlier in this thread?

Why would Volkswagen get away from DSG in this model?

My guess: VW has been using the DQ200 (the 7 speed dry clutch DSG) in all cars with with torque less than 250Nm - Octavia 1.8TSi, Vento TSi, Vento TDI DSG, Rapid TDi DSG, Polo GTi to name a few. The DQ200 is notorious worldwide for various problems like early clutch failure, mechatronics failure etc. VW had mass recall programs a few years back on this gearbox. Though VW has been saying it has fixed all the issues, DQ200 gearboxes still keep failing.

Maybe VW came to its senses at last and decided to ditch the DQ200 in this car.

PS: This is purely an assumption from my side and I do not have any information to substantiate this assumption.

Re: Virtus, the 2018 VW Polo sedan (Vento replacement). EDIT: Now unveiled

Wonder why they did not attempt to switch to the newer 6/7 speed DSG's they have which are supposedly more reliable.

Isn't the AISIN 6 speed box the one doing duty in the XUV in India. It is definitely a very good TC box.

Too expensive, too complicated and unreliable - That has been the story of dual clutch gear boxes from almost all manufacturers. In this era of social media no manufacturer wants to risk it any more. VAG has been slowly doing away with DSGs for some top Audis too. Also improvements in TC boxes means that they are nearly as good as DCTs now (performance wise). Only sports car makers for whom that 0.1 sec delay in 0 to xxx figure matters hugely in prestige stakes are sticking to DCTs. For the rest a TC will do fine. While the world is moving away from DSGs, let us enjoy our DSGs while we can!

2019 Jetta will be to be offered in left-hand drive only and will skip many markets.

Enter the VIRTUS to such markets in right -hand drive and will be placed Jetta territory ( price-wise)
