Looking at the picture, instrument cluster seems to be centrally mounted like in the Etios. I hope it is more conventional as such designs are not yet accepted in our country. It is like love it or hate it. Personally I prefer more conventional design with instrument cluster directly in front of the driver. Below is reference picture of dashboard on Japanese made Wagon R.

There were rumors that the 2018 Ertiga will be launched during the festive season. If Wagon-R is being launched during Diwali, does it mean the Ertiga release will not be during the festive season? If so, do we know when that will be, before Diwali or after?

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

This is what comes out when you give the job of making a render of WagonR to a CelerioX fan...

The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR-wagonr.jpg

Gaadiwadi has given out a digital render of the next gen 5 seater WagonR based on the WagonR test mule sightings. Seems heavily inspired by CelerioX replete with Skid Plate, Blackened area around Fog Lamps, etc.

Next GEN WagonR spied on test. Will debut in 2019. Could be testing components of the JDM spec. car in Indian driving conditions.

2018 WagonR ( codenamed YCA)spied on test again. Hybrid variant could be launched in India .

Would address the upcoming Emission and Safety norms using Total Effective Control Technology as seen in the new gen products.

If am right, this looks like a previous gen JDM WagonR(2013-17).
Cue the B pillar design is ordinary, unlike the WagonR shown below that has a thicker B pillar (current WagonR)

Maruti usually changes the design, in this case the bumper mounted lights, to be more palatable for Indian tastes.

Wonder how much the indian WagonR differs from the JDM.

Not sure which one is the final one for India. Logically the new gen one will suit as this will address the safety norms with less iterations needed.

But #57 the spied WagonR( in camouflage) seems to be of the older generation.

However there will be the following variants:

1. 7 seater
2. Hybrid

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

There have been mixed reviews regarding whether the next gen WagonR will be built on the Heartect Platform or not.

I have a question, the current WagonR range starts at Rs.4,21,883/- (ex-showroom Dehradun for the non-metallic) variant, while the safety features equipped LXi (O) non-metallic variant is priced at Rs.4,54,526/- (ex-showroom Dehradun). The Ignis starts at Rs.4,65,837/- (ex-showroom Dehradun) for the Sigma variant. The Swift starts at Rs.4,99,000/- (ex-showroom Dehradun) for the LXi variant.

So, why would it bring the cost up by so much that people think that it will escalate the costs by a big number if WagonR moved to the Heartect platform?

WagonR dimensions - 3599mm x 1495mm x 1700mm (L x B x H)
Ignis dimensions - 3700mm x 1690mm x 1595mm (L x B x H)
Swift dimension - 3840mm x 1735mm x 1530mm (L x B x H)

So, the Ignis' platform just has to be shortened by 101mm (Length), 195mm (Width) and the Height can change as per the design and there is no specific height a platform can support I guess. Won't shortening and narrowing the platform for the WagonR actually save on costs like lengthening and widening it for the Swift increased the cost?

Do enlighten me fellow BHPians...

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will be launched in early 2019. Its EV version will debut in first half of 2020.

Quote:
the new Wagon R will most likely get the 1-litre K10 engine that already powers the car today and also is available in the likes of the Alto K10 and the Celerio. While the current version of the car also gets CNG, it is not confirmed whether the new version of the car will get this alternate fuel option too.
Quote:
The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will also get features like ABS and airbags as standard along with a new platform since it will have to meet crash regulations. It will also get an updated infotainment setup with possible features like a touchscreen infotainment system. Also expect top spec models to come loaded with LED projector headlamps and of course, daytime running lights.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

New WagonR to debut in early 2019. Maruti Suzuki estimates 18k cars/month.

To be cost effective the new car will be based on the existing platform modified suitably for the upcoming safety norms and not on the HEARTECT platform.
Quote:
the new Maruti WagonR 2019 will continue to feature the same 1.0-lirte, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine pushing out power worth 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. Though, it could be upgraded to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms
Quote:
Sporting ‘tall-boy’ design, the Maruti WagonR will witness comprehensive design and styling upgrades. It will feature new sweptback headlamps, new front grille, revised front bumper and more prominent wheel arches. The refreshed version is likely to get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Well the First link is in Malayalam. So, If you could translate and put highlights, it would be better.

If it is built on the heartech platform, then it could become similar to Ignis, with only 2 differentiations. First one the design and second, the Engine. So, Ignis would loose more customers.

By the way, any timeline is mentioned?

Re: New Wagon R

Seems like Maruti is in head to head competition with Lexus in the 'looks' department.

Re: New Wagon R

For this vehicle somehow, we get to see these radical images from international upgrades. Yet, somehow, what we get is more conservative, more gradual upgrade. And I recall this being the case for the past 3 generations at least.

I wonder really why?
