Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

Honda is working on a facelift of the Mobilio MPV, which has recently been teased in Indonesia. The new Mobilio gets some comprehensive cosmetic updates, though it is expected to be mechanically identical to the current model.

The teaser video reveals that the Mobilio facelift will come with smaller headlamp assemblies, which will be replacing the large, balloon-shaped units found on the model currently on sale. The headlamps also feature LED DRLs on the lower edge. The front grille is wider and gets a prominent chrome bar in the middle, while the bumper has been tweaked to house the angular fog lamp enclosures.

Details about changes to the interiors of the Mobilio facelift haven't surfaced yet. It must be noted that Honda had launched a mildly updated Mobilio in the international markets sometime back, which added an updated dashboard design to the MPV, similar to what is being offered in the new Amaze and Brio facelifts. However, this update hasn't been introduced in India yet.

It remains to be seen whether or not Honda brings the 2017 update of the Mobilio to India. The MPV is currently experiencing a downward trend in its sales figures in the country, as it clocked just 151 unit sales in December 2016, suffering a Year-on-Year (YoY) drop of 21.4%.

re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

Another shot in the arm for the 'destined to fail' mobilio? Honda should make the best use of the CVT+Petrol engine and launch the auto in multiple trims to make any significant impact. Make a good affordable AT, we should see sales shoot up a bit. The petrol engine and the AT are the weak points of the Ertiga, at least on paper. 118 BHP vs 94 BHP and CVT vs 4 speed TC makes for a compelling reason to sell more automatics.

After seeing the response to the Etios, Honda made an 'avoidable' mistake. As I said in a previous post, the BRV (minus some extras) is what the mobilio should have been. Honda have to do something radical if they want to see more Mobilios moving out of showrooms.

Might be the case here, but Indonesia is a market obsessed with their MPVs and as such - the Mobilio is an important product for Honda.

No wonder the facelift goes on sale there before it hits our market.

A facelift won't do anything. In India, once a flop, always a flop. Example = facelifts of the Fiesta, Aria, Sunny, Quanto / Nuvosport...the list goes on.

Facelifts are important to selling models as they help to maintain the sales momentum. But they don't revive a dead patient.

Honda is anyway trying to push the Mobilio onto the taxi segment; if we look at the factory dispatch numbers however, even that's been a dead end.

I seemed to like the Mobilio and it was probably the interior that killed the product ! GTO is right, this facelift won't help it sell because of the poor public perception of the product in India. No car has made a comeback through a facelift even though some have been vastly improved cARS.

I do think families should consider this over a City if they want a more versatile car.

Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia!

The headlamps are now slimmer as opposed to the balloon-shaped ones on the earlier car. It gets LED daytime-running lamps as well. A thick band of chrome runs across the grille, as seen on the City, with a prominent 'H' at the centre. The front bumper has also been redesigned and now gets more angular inserts for the fog lamps, and chrome accents at the bottom.

The Indonesian-spec car is likely to continue with the same petrol motor. However, it does get additional safety features like hill start assist and vehicle stability control.

Re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

Why does this look shorter? Is it just the angle or is there a change in dimensions?
Anyway, why does Honda put so much chrome in the grill? Isn't it a put off for some people like me?

Thanks GTO. But being a proud owner of mobilio for almost 18 months now and driving this MPV for over 30000 kilometres, i can easily vouch for its stability, fuel efficiency, Air-conditioner effectiveness and to top it all the bullet proof reliability of Honda. For me, it is always good to stand out of the crowd. The vehicle, as such, was always very good to drive from day one. The review on this great forum also says so. The only sore point were the dashboard and the front looks which were a straight pick from the Brio. Hopefully, after Honda brings in the face-lift with a proper price-tag, expect the numbers to go up. Do not forget that Alto, which is currently the highest selling car, used to do very pathetic numbers initially. It was pitched between Maruti 800 and jelly bean styled Zen.

All said and done, we should keep in mind that Indians are Maruti obsessed nation and will pick any car from maruti stable with closed eyes. Had maruti launched mobilio, we would have seen people waiting in queues with booking amount in their hand outside the dealerships.

Re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

Honda's Mobilio gets added features apart from the exterior make-over!
Quote:
The lowest - S manual. At the exterior, Honda gives new, more fierce look with a face that is a bit similar to the Honda Stream RSZ. The front bumper is still the same as the model of its predecessor, and there are no foglamp.
The front lights are now changed variant S get the LED position light.
Grill gets chrome, while completeness in old variants such as alloy wheels 15 inch, black door handles, eco indicator, drive by wire, torque boost resonator, LED mount stop lamp and rear wiper was still the same as the previous model.
Honda Mobilio S gets a new interior color is now black. Then the front seats now have separate headrest as does Honda BR-V. In terms of convenience and entertainment, Honda gives the tilt steering, air conditioning, double blower, 2 speakers and 4 pieces of power window remains the standard in this car.
Honda Mobilio type S is the cheapest, is now already equipped with brakes ABS + EBD as standard
.
Quote:
The type of E is have a choice of transmission CVT, ivory-colored Interior, electric mirrors, alloy wheels 15 inch new design, the middle seat that can be sliding, alarm system, seen behind cover, rear view mirror fog lamp and 4 audio speakers.
For E CVT, will have rear chrome license plate garnish, steering audio control switches, with a 6.2 inches and rear parking camera.
Quote:
Well in a variant of the RS, Honda gives completeness more compared to the previous model, call it retractable mirrors, new meter cluster design the more sporty, audio 6.2 inches complete with bluetooth connection, audio with 6 speaker premium fruit, passengger and driver seatbelt reminder, and auto air conditioning.
For CVT variant, more get more features compared to manual, because the Honda Mobilio RS CVT variant get Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist.

Re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

It's probably just me, but why in the world do Mobilio and BR-V need to co-exist, esp. given they're essentially (almost) the same car with cosmetic and minor mechanical differences and (more importantly) aren't exactly chart-toppers?

Re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

Looks good. I've had a RS for 18 months too and it's run >20k kms. Only problem is the chin scrapes on ramps. Any pictures of the interiors?

Re: Honda Mobilio facelift revealed in Indonesia

I don't think Honda will bother to introduce the facelift in India. It's very likely that they will work on improving or maintaining volumes in BR-V.

Also, I'm not sure if I like the new Mobilio look. I can see glimpses of Celerio and Tiago from the front!

Honda might have planned to launch the BR-V with the updated interiors and features while keeping the Mobilio as a basic car. Maybe the sales numbers of the Mobilio in SE Asia prompted them to refresh the car.

BR-V is their compact SUV, Mobilio is their compact MPV. But nobody will deny that they are the same car underneath.
