Director Roger Donaldson, who has movies like "The World's Fastest Indian" to his credit, has created a documentary film - "McLaren", based on the life of Bruce McLaren and the races from Formula One, Can-Am and Tasman Series among others. The trailer of this film has been released.

As a child who suffered from Perthes disease to someone who went on to race cars and build his own motor racing team over the years, Bruce McLaren ranks among Henry Ford, Karl Benz, Enzo Ferrari and the other greats of automotive history. He went on to show how even with humble beginnings, one could take on the elite and win.

The documentary attempts to showcase, the determination of the then youngest Grand Prix winner, who was not just good at racing but, had developed a vision for designing race cars. His personality, leadership qualities and business acumen saw him win races not just in Europe but also in the Americas. The New Zealander, in a very short time made a significant impact in the motoring world.

It will be interesting to see the final cut of the movie, which will try to give its audience a glimpse into the life and career of McLaren from his early days to his tragic death in 1970 at the age of 32. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.

Senna, Rush & now McLaren - it's a fantastic decade for F1 fans clap:clap:. I just have my doubts on whether it will hit Indian cinemas. Hope I'm proven wrong. Movie doesn't look as saleable as my namesake.

While we wait, would recommend watching the world's fastest Indian (same director). Good movie.

Robert De-niro is playing Enzo Ferrari in a movie called "Ferrari" and is directed by Michael Mann. Although not many details of it has resurfaced for almost a year. Hugh Jackman has replaced Christian Bale to play the younger Enzo in the same film. That should be quite a blockbuster with such huge names in the cast.

This is one of those under-rated movies that I thorougly enjoyed. Some of the technically challenging scenes leave a lot to be desired but nonetheless a superb effort overall. Sir Hopkins and the rest of the cast really bring the story to life. The film inspired me to invest in a copy of the biography of the legendary Burt Monroe - a slow but interesting read
