Porsche delivers its millionth 911 from the factory

When we hear VWAG we hear names like VW, Skoda, Seat, even Bentley and Lamborghini.. what we don't hear much is its numero uno money-maker > Porsche and its good that we don't, for generations Porsche has always had an identity of its own since its battle-tank building days of Nazi Germany.

Porsche to me isn't the typical VW, it focuses on the driving part much like BMW does and like the 3 Series which came to be known as the ultimate driving machine with 4 doors, the 911 is Porsche's ultimate 2 door car and the top seller as well. Porsche unlike other VW brands has also consistently topped reliability surveys, sometimes even getting into the top 3 *gasp*.

Quote:
A couple years ago, when the 911 turned 50 years old, Porsche claimed that two thirds of all Porsches ever made are still on the road (and they might be reliable enough to make it home, too).
The only problem with the Porsche today is the pricing, the 911 was introduced as a sporty affordable car but soon came to be known as the gold standard of overpricing (17% profit/18,000$ per car average), it still shares the same DNA today mechanically as before, with rear-engine-RWD layout and focus on dynamics and feedback though there have been trials with the mid-engine-RWD layout but not with the 911.

As long as Porsche continues, VW can get out of any scandal unscathed.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is a HUGE Porsche fan (47 cars of which 17 were sold for 22 million$)
