The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

Jaguar will kickstart its biggest assault on the global car market yet when it reveals the hotly anticipated E-Pace, its second SUV, on 13 July.

The E-Pace is arriving at a time when Jaguar is enjoying a significant upswing in sales. In April the company reported an 83% increase in global sales for the year 2016/17, with the introduction of the F-Pace providing a huge boost. The smaller E-Pace, which will go head to head with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, is expected to surpass its sibling’s success.

The size of the market is considerable: year-on-year sales of the X1 increased by 47% in the first five months of this year, with 113,367 examples being sold. During 2016, Audi produced more than 230,000 examples of the Q3.

The E-Pace, which is set to be priced at less than £30,000, sits on the same LR-MS steel platform as the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. As such, it’ll be offered with either front or four-wheel drive and a choice of either a six-speed manual or eight-speed auto gearbox.

Power comes from 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines, including 161bhp and 178bhp diesels.

Higher up the range will be a 237bhp 2.0-liter diesel and a 247bhp 2.0-liter petrol. The E-Pace could also be the first model to receive Jaguar’s new hybrid powertrain. It would most likely be based on a mild hybrid system that would be shared with the Evoque and Discovery Sport. The ‘MHEV’ system will combine a battery-powered electric drive motor and a three-cylinder 1.5-liter Ingenium diesel engine.

Jaguar promises the E-Pace will be imbued with the company’s trademark handling traits, suggesting it’ll follow the lead of the F-Pace and be positioned as the driver’s choice in its market segment.

It’s really an SUV onslaught in the market. Jaguar said they created the F-Pace with the Macan as the benchmark, but I think with its size this can be the one to go head-to-head with the Porsche.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

I just hope it comes to India under 40 lacs, and i think that's doable since the Evoque starts at 45 now. X1/Q3/GLA have their work cut out in that case.

Yes, the pricing is insane to say the least. I feel bad whenever i compare it to the prices here in the US. In US Jaguar has priced just a couple thousand dollars more than the competition like Q5, X3. But in India they are positioning this vehicle a class higher inspite of the entry varient having a 2l engine

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

If priced somewhere between 35-40 L, it can really trigger a happy customer race as the compact crossover market is pretty hot and offerings aren't that huge. For example, Q3 is now dated and needs a refresh, GLA never inspired people and X1 is the only real competition at that price point. Keeping their pricing history in mind, I'm not sure that they will even get it out at under 40 L.

Also, the interiors of this new generation of Jags are cut above the rest in my opinion. Yummy propositions for Indian customers in 35-45L bracket nowadays.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

I couldn't agree more on the pricing bit, they can and should price it in the vicinity of the 40-45 lacs range (on road), else it would be another product killed even before it gets launched... the options that an Indian customer has nowadays is mouth watering at all price levels.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

If we have seen Jaguar's history with pricing, I think it is safe to assume that they will price it atleast a couple of lakhs higher than the competition or even higher. In this case the competition being the Q5, X3 and the GLC (IIRC)
So I won't keep my fingers crossed but will still hopefully await the change in their pricing strategies.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

E-Pace has been added to the India website. https://www.jaguar.in/jaguar-range/j...ace/index.html

And I see that Jaguar has bid for some keywords to show that to whoever is on Google.

And here is how the new cat family looks.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

GST will also help bring the OTR price down; more reason for us to be happy about. 30-45 L segment is full of lovely lovely options now. You have mammoths on one hand like Endeavour 3.2 and Toyota Fortuner and compact crossovers like Q3, X1, GLA. With GLA not inciting any crowd support, Q3 getting dated, there needs to be a true rival to X1, which has upped its space and ride quality (apart from miniscule power bump).

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

Jaguar reveals its cub- The E-Pace CUV for millennial couples at the launch even in London.

Jaguar E-Pace does a record breaking barrel roll at its debut.

Driven by professional stunt driver Terry Grant, the E-Pace was able to complete a 15.3 meter (50.1 foot) long jump while doing a 270-degree barrel roll at the ExCeL exhibition center in London.

The cub of the Jaguar family aims to repeat the success of the F-Pace at a smaller size and price.
The new E-Pace will initially be built in Graz, Austria, but starting next year it’ll also be manufactured in China specifically for the local Chinese market. Orders for the E-Pace open tonight with starting prices of $38,600, £28,500, or €34,950, and deliveries will be within six months.

Quote:
Under the hood, a variety of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines will be available. The two gasoline units will have outputs of 249 PS (183 kW) and 365 Nm (269 lb-ft) of torque as well as 300 PS (220 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.

The entry-level diesel model has 150 PS (110 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque, while the mid-range variant develops 180 PS (132 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. Last but not least, there's a range-topping diesel with 240 PS (176 kW) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque.

Depending on which engine is selected, it can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Rear-wheel drive will come standard in the U.K. but all U.S. models will come equipped with all-wheel drive.

Re: The Jaguar E-Pace SUV

Here is Mat Watson with the top 10 on the E-Pace. Looking Good!

In the UK, the price for the base variant is almost same for both E-Pace and X1.

And the baby Jag does have an uncanny resemblance to this humble fella.

I always like his top 10s but i don't agree with Jaguars claim of Q5 like leg room. There's another video at the Autocar UK's channel which clearly shows that space is definitely at Q3 level or less. Also the boot space is quoted differently in different places.

And OMG man, i felt like something was wrong with the front look of it, but didn't realise the reason was the Swift!! Now i can't unsee it . Was actually thinking of getting the car since the overall shape is so much more exciting than the only real competition right now (X1). But not after having seen this .
I feel Jag could have stuck to the F pace like front for the car, not only would it not look like the Swift, but also the F- type's iconic nose and interior styling would remain exclusive with their flagship coupe. If i had bought an F type, i would feel quite betrayed that the design is now on the cheapest car Jaguar sells.
