Next-gen Renault Duster unveiled

Next generation duster exterior unveiled.

Article :

Images of the cabin have not been released, but we’ve been told this is where most of the changes have occurred for the second generation. The interior will be revealed on September 12 at IAA where the company will also detail the Duster’s technical specifications. As far as the rumored seven-seat version is concerned, an extended-wheelbase model has already been ruled out by officials.
Somehow, looks more like a facelift. I feel they could have done better on exteriors.

Re: Next-generation Renault / Dacia Duster caught testing

Looks smashing. The front end is very imposing & premium. The bonnet design is great. The rear looks like a rip off from Jeep Renegade. But overall, a good package.

Regards,

Pawan

Re: Next-generation Renault / Dacia Duster caught testing

I am looking for the people who misunderstood the all-new Verna to be a face-lift !

Come on Renault (and Dacia) I am ok with an evolutionary design - as long as it addresses the key issues, like say the flap type door handles.

And yes, the tail lamps are inspired by (copied from ) the Renegade - no prizes for pointing that out.

I only hope they have taken the interiors a big step ahead, without which I see no point in a all-new Duster at all.

Renault has unwrapped the new Duster. Evolutionary, but looks more Sandero'ish now. Reports from rushlane and ACI:

It looks exactly like the current generation, similar body shape with minimum sheet metal changes, similar head lamp shape etc.

The only changes appear to be the revised grill design and the tail lamps.

The Chassis, Platform, Engines are exactly the same.

I don't think this is an 'All new' model. This is a mild face lift at best.

Re: Next-generation Renault / Dacia Duster caught testing

They could have seriously done better with the tail lamps. Looks very small for a vehicle its size. The grill seems nothing different from the Kwid apart from the chrome inserts. I personally prefer the current one selling to this one.

The pictures suggests that
- the door handles are exactly the same.
- the body shape, headlamps, and sheet metal panels are the same

Lastly, The ACI article mentions that the dimensions, platform are same as earlier.

Re: Next-generation Renault / Dacia Duster caught testing

Even though it looks very evolutionary, there are many changes. Watch the video below.

I like it, but wonder why they have retained those archaic pull type door handles? That was easy a fix!

And lets wait for the snaps of the interior. That is where the biggest changes should be. Though I am not very hopeful looking at the interiors of the Kaptur.

All blink and miss. Surely they've kept it that way as the Dacia Duster is going strong as a cheap entry level offering in European markets.

But I don't see any future for the 'premium' Renault Duster in India, with such small changes only. The game has really moved on!

Re: Next-generation Renault / Dacia Duster caught testing

Renault better not launch this Duster here if they wish not to get 'Erased' from the markets! Really, same platform and same exteriors! India has changed guys, don't even dream of doing the similar non sense that was being served over the past years on us.

If this was what you guys could come out with, well then it would have been better if the help of some guys who do modifications around in India were taken. They would have come up with better ideas. Now it's gonna be between Creta and Compass till Tata comes out with their Compact SUV. FCA has timed their Compass launch to perfection, while the competition looks like having lost the direction!

Duster was never meant for the premium segment. Barring sub 4M, Duster is the cheapest C-SUV on sale. The prices were jacked since the launch but then it had no real competition until Creta was launched. With Duster 2.0,Renault has given a clear message where would Duster be positioned and to me its the right thing to do.

Pricing was premium even at launch (not cheap), but it worked due to lack of competition. Reactions to the pricing on the review thread clearly indicates that!

After all the price hikes, its now in very premium pricing range for sure. For example, the SCross range starts cheaper than the Duster.

No. They haven't. What has been showcased is only the Dacia version.

Remains to be seen what Renault has in mind for India. I hope they reposition it lower, now that they would also have the C(K)aptur to cater to the more premium C-SUV buyer.
