The Daimler Truck division and Mercedes-Benz could soon split into separate entities.



According to a media report, Daimler Trucks & Buses and Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans may be transferred into two legally independent entities. Sources report that the first steps towards the re-structuring have already been taken.

The recent development comes in the wake of a statement made by Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, in July 2017 that Daimler may split parts of its business into separate entities as its seeks to fund its autonomous and electric car programs.

However, as per the media report, the company has no plans to divest any of its divisions in order to raise funds for its future ambitions.
