The Koenigsegg Agera RS smashes the Bugatti Chiron's 0-400-0 kmph record

Bugatti made a bit of noise last month when the Chiron did 0-400-0 in about 42 seconds.

Now, watch Koenigsegg decimate that with the Agera RS. 0-400-0 in 36.44 seconds!

The Agera RS looks a handful compared to the Chiron, especially under braking. The Chiron was so very composed - just how a Bugatti should be. But then the road surface is quite bad here.

Anyways, it is mighty impressive when one considers that Agera RS is not even the fastest car in Koenigsegg' stable.

Agera RS. 0-400-0 in 36.44 seconds!
Wow, that's a HUGE difference!

Though Koenigsegg has cherry picked the results by using separate 0-400 and 400-0 times! (Not sure if this is how Bugatti did it too?)

Nonetheless, their continuous 0-400-0 time is 37.28 -- which is still way faster.

What I found rather interesting was how linear the acceleration was, all the way up to about 250 km/h!

Another strange thing : The braking was pretty linear too, and surprisingly the rate of braking got WORSE as the speed dropped below 100 km/h!?

Re: Koenigsegg's New 910-HP Agera! EDIT: 1,115 BHP Agera R on pg2

Should Montoya (Bugatti), not wearing any protective gear while Lilja (Koenigsegg) wearing one have anything to do with the confidence the drivers had in the respective supercars!?

It is not a question of confidence, but of safety. Juan Pablo Montoya should also have been wearing protective gear.

The timing by Bugatti was continuous. And that's where the reflex of Montoya was handy. He was on the brake right after hitting 400 kmph. The test driver on the Agera was't so fast on the brake though, the reason for Koenigsegg to cherry pick the times. And its obvious Koenigsegg can still find time given a better road or some more preparation. It looks like they just tried this after lunch on a Monday and left after a few runs. The nonchalance is incredible! All they now need is someone like Kimi to drive the car.

I think its more to do with the fact that the Chiron is a hyper GT. It can do all this without breaking a sweat. Bugatti obviously wanted to position this run to bring home that point. A racing suit, helmet/ HANS ruins that narrative.

The Koenigsegg Agera RS smashes the Bugatti Chiron's 0-400-0 kmph record

The Koenigsegg Agera RS has completed the 0-400-0kmph test in a staggering 36.44 seconds and has beaten the Chiron's time by not 1/10th or 2/10th's of a second but by a wide margin of 5.52 seconds.

This is really a great achievement when you consider the position of Koenigsegg with the mighty VW group.

An interesting read:

What makes it even more interesting is the data released by the two companies. Koenigsegg has released a speed time graph which clearly shows that the Agera took over 4 seconds to reach 100 and was still 2 seconds behind the Bugatti uptil 200kph. Koenigsegg himself said that the track and weather conditions were not perfect due to which the lightweight rwd supercar was spinning its wheels even right upto 180kph. Just imagine how much faster the Agera would have been had the conditions been ideal for it. Marvelous feat indeed.

Move over Bugatti, Koenigsegg Agera RS is the new Speed King!

If rubbing salt on Chiron's 42 second feat wasn't enough, an Agera RS has officially done 277.9MPH :O

Quote:
A Koenigsegg Agera RS driven by factory driver, Niklas Lilja, has completed high speed runs in Pahrump, NV today. The average speed achieved, combining runs in both directions, was 447.0 km/h (277.9 mph). The runs were measured using dataloggers from @racelogic_uk. Full details of the runs will be forthcoming. #worldrecord #koenigsegg #AgeraRS

Re: The Koenigsegg Agera RS smashes the Bugatti Chiron's 0-400-0 kmph record

Here is the math behind it. The Koenigsegg was faster from 300-400 km/h which sealed the deal. They would have got a better time with better conditions.

Here is what 457 kmph feels like from inside the Agera RS!

PS: Love it when the driver casually checks the logger while doing around 330 kmph.
