Test mules of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler have been spotted in the past but a recently leaked owner's manual has revealed a lot of details about the updated model.



The 2018 Wrangler will be offered with a removable soft top or a three-piece hard top. It will also feature removable body panels, doors and quarter windows. A power sliding roof will also be available as an option, although in that case, the roof cannot be completely removed. Much like the old Jeeps, the new Wrangler will have a folding windshield with fewer and easily accessible Torx bolts. It will be available in two-door and four-door body styles.



Inside, the new Wrangler gets a UConnect infotainment system with a 7 or 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, climate control, etc. It comes with safety features like blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection - that alerts oncoming vehicles when reversing out of parking spots among others. It will be offered with cruise control, park assist, etc. Four programmable pre-wired auxiliary switches have been provided. These switches control the relays with cut wires in the passenger compartment as well as the engine bay along with a fused cable from the battery. Owners can connect their electrical accessories to these.



The leaked documents also talk about the engines that will be offered on the 2018 Wrangler. A 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine will be available in addition to the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6. A mild hybrid version could also be on cards. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic.



The Wrangler will come with 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options. The four-wheel drive models get a separate gear selector to shift between high-range and low-range. A five-position transfer case will be available as an option which adds a 4WD Auto mode that can automatically engage the front axle.



Jeep has neither confirmed the authenticity of the recent leaks nor have they confirmed its launch date. That said, the 2018 Wrangler is rumoured to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The next gen Wrangler aka JL hasn't been launched yet but then, pretty much every single detail of the body can anyway be seen on the barely camo'd test vehicles. This is what I see pretty much everyday :









The looks are pretty much evolutionary than revolutionary. Similar to Swift and dare-I-say Porsche 911. The not so evident changes come with the powertrain and Ride/Handling. The Interior gets a tonne of updates though. I've seen one up close..

Jeep has unveiled the 2018 Wrangler which will make its public debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show next month. The new model will go on sale in the US in January 2018 and will eventually make its way to the Indian market.



The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is available in 2-door and 4-door body styles. The 2-door model comes in three variants – Sport, Sport S and Rubicon. In addition to the aforementioned variants, the 4-door model also comes in Sahara trim.



Jeep has made subtle changes to the 2018 Wrangler without deviating too much from the design language of the current model. The front features the 7-slat grille with minor tweaks and circular, full-LED headlights. The fenders house LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and turn signals, while the fog lamps are integrated into the bumper.



An extra vent has been added behind the front fenders that is claimed to improve circulation and reduce bonnet vibrations. Furthermore, a lower beltline is claimed to have increased the glass house area. At the rear, the new Wrangler gets LED tail lamps, a spare wheel and a larger rear windshield. That said, like the previous model, the 2018 Wrangler does come with removable doors and soft and hard-top options, while the front windshield can also be folded down. The bumpers have provisions to install a winch and have removable end caps.



The new Wrangler has a longer wheelbase compared to the previous generation. The dashboard now comes in a dual-tone theme with circular air-conditioning vents and a centrally mounted 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Lower variants get a 5.0-inch or a 7.0-inch unit. The fourth generation Uconnect system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Power window switches along with toggles for the differential locks are placed on a separate module on the centre console. Customers can spec their cars with a 7.0-inch TFT multi-information display (MID) which is placed in the centre flanked by the analogue speedometer and tachometer. A 3.5-inch MID is offered on lower variants.



The 2018 Wrangler continues to use a 5-link suspension setup at both ends, albeit with retuned shock absorbers. The Wrangler Rubicon comes with an electronic front sway bar disconnect feature. Overall, the suspension offers a wading depth of up to 30 inches. The Wrangler has an approach angle of 44 degrees, breakover angle of 27.8 degrees and a departure angle of 37 degrees. It has a ground clearance of 277 mm and is capable of towing up to 1,588 kg.



The 2018 Wrangler is offered with a Command-Trac 4x4 system which features a 2-speed transfer case. The Wrangler Rubicon employs a Rock-Trac 4x4 system with heavy-duty axles and Tru-Lok locking differentials. The vehicle employs four skid plates to protect the fuel tank, transfer case and the automatic transmission oil pan. Rubicon models get heavy gauge tubular steel rock rails as well.

Under the bonnet, the 2018 Wrangler is offered with two, new 4-cylinder engines, in addition to the Pentastar V6 and V6 EcoDiesel unit. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 270 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit churns out 197 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre, V6 diesel makes 240 BHP and 570 Nm of torque, while the 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine makes 285 BHP and 353 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include an 8-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual.

The previous generation JK series Jeep Wrangler ends production.



Late last year, Jeep began production on the redesigned JL-series Wrangler. Interestingly, Jeep never stopped building the previous-generation Wrangler. At least until last Friday. As of April 27, production of the JK Wrangler has officially come to an end.

According to Fiat Chrysler, Jeep built more than 2.1 million JKs since production began back in 2006.

New Jeep Wrangler JL Tip Over During Latest Crash Test, IIHS downgraded its driver-side small overlap front crash test rating. It’s an unfortunate outcome for the Jeep.

A new report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety details the new Jeep Wrangler JL’s Marginal rating for the institute’s driver-side small overlap front crash test. Jeep redesigned it for the 2018 model year. During the test, the Wrangler tipped over, forcing the institute to downgrade the SUV’s rating even though it performed well in the crash.

IIHS downgraded the Wrangler’s rating to Marginal because the tipping over could present “additional injury risk beyond what the standard criteria are intended to measure,” according to the institute’s press release. “A vehicle tipping onto its side is not an acceptable outcome

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept Unveiled.



Jeep has now introduced the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept with a massive 6.4-litre, V8 engine that puts out 444 bhp and a peak torque of 610 Nm, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It gets Dana 44 axles and 37-inch mud-terrain tires.
