Seriously man, you've just made me say the Roxor's current grill looks better and that's not a compliment either.

The grill seems to have been designed to look like an M (for the logo?).

But why are we getting so upset here, the expected purpose and target audience is not the same in US and as such the vehicle is meant for a very specific purpose, looking at the close competitors in Side by Side type vehicles, this will win the Miss Universe title.

We are trying to compare it with the Thar which is a lifestyle (road legal) vehicle. Don't think the Thar in its present avatar can ever be launched in the US.
The other thing could be that they didn't want to spoil the image which the Thar carries, if they would launch it for the same purpose - because that is what the Thar would get approved for if it ever sells in US. It cannot be compared with the Wrangler by any means and I think Mahindra doesn't even want to get into that mode.

So let's chill people.

They might probably advertise this in their agricultural equipment stores.

Cheers,
Trojan

This is the only way Mahindra could have entered the US market after failing to get any of their current offerings road legal in the US. Now start looking for loop holes in FMVSS and may be add a wind shield, a fan and a shovel and make it road legal:D. Mahindra never fails in the failing dept.

Roxor seems to be very well received by the US market based on the positive comments on other forums. I understand it is not a thar, neither was it aimed at being a thar. The new plant being in michigan helps build an image for M&M and also this country has a huge outdoor or camping lifestyle. Farms here have a lot of land involved and with the right tools this vehicle can do the job. Hope they manage on attaining the goal which M&M has set out to achieve.

The vehicle can be sold even though it looks like a Wrangler, coz of the license which mahindra has. Also Mahindra has totally ignored the Jeep in india, by pricing the Thar in india at a rich 10lakh price point, which makes folks with older jeeps in india, stuck with not upgrading to a newer model.

Will be interesting to see my first roxor out in the wilderness.

Maddy

In my view it will be a moderate success even if its not very cheap . it's reviews in US were not as bad as in this thread. More over I am proud that Mahindra entered into US market. They were not successful in introducing Scorpio Getaway to US market. Making it Not-Street-Legal is a perfect way to get rid of some Safety norms needed in US market. I would say it as a good marketing strategy and it gives confidence to introduce a street legal vehicle Later.

1) It is Manufactured in Michigan, USA - Atleast this will help to get few "Be American, Buy American" customers.
2) Even Puny in terms of Output, a Diesel Engine is an offroader's dream - Considering Diesel engines are rare and bigger ones are too costly in US market.
3) Lot of people like old CJ style.

Here's a close-up look into the Roxor at a powersports dealer. This would be sold through the various powersports outlets than the agricultural supplies as mentioned by someone else here. Yes there's not much we do not already know in terms of the base vehicle but the dash & sound bar are shown up close here.

Roxor doesn't seem to pull the interest of the Indians but the home market is definitely warming up to it, including Canada. It'd be mighty fun to see these lil jeeps running around all over the american backyards again; who would've thought. Looks like the test drives have started and they seem amazed. Watch it below.

The paint quality of the Bonnet is what caught my attention. Miles ahead of the finish we get here on the Indian versions!

I am never a fan of Mahindra or Tata but I think Mahindra just nailed it with this one in the US market.

If Mahindra created a modern, world class, Euro Ncap 5 star rated car with all the features, US people would just simply turn away. Unlike our market, they have plenty of other options available.

Instead, they recreated what is in the American's heart. That also addressed the market gap. I went through quite lot of Roxor US reviews. Almost every review they are comparing it with Jeep CJs and the license Mahindra got during the 1947 etc. They are also claiming this is the most authentic Jeep one can get not even the wrangler. As a result, in comments I can see people are already getting familiar with the vehicle. If they introduce XUV or other vehicle, I am sure they would not even care about it.

Good job Mahindra.

Negatives:

It is not road legal.
Puny Engine.
Low 72KMPH top speed.

All of these can be addressed. It is deliberately kept so to avoid legal squabble with FCA.

It is only a matter of time when somebody will drop in a crate engine and soup it up for the Trails.

Whenever I drive past Mahindra plant in Auburn Hills, I can't help but think of the analogy - Global Automakers Value engineer their cars to suit India buyers expectation. The Roxor is the only one going the opposite way - Value engineer an Indian product to suit US buyers. This is definitely commendable.

These are some shots we thought would never exist of our 'not-so-fancy' Tharoxor, or would even reach the place where it's at now. Mahindra atleast got something spot on. Time to stamp out Roxor conversion kits for Indian Thars!

The fit and finish of the Roxor have a lot of question marks. The worst is the front grille and the front facia treatment. If at all M and M wanted to avoid the Jeep copyright infringement for design in the foreign market, there are one million other designs (guess Pininfarina will be able to do much better under the ownership of M and M) to choose from. The MUV fails in the front looks department, dismally.

It features on the company website too:

These are some shots of the Roxor from their dealer meeting & a mudding event. The vehicle showed up with some pretty interesting official accessories.

At the HighLifter Mud Nationals 2018.

Well that's certainly a relief ("Honest Review":D) and a welcome change from the bulk of the sniffy, condescending posts from members on this thread!

And if dyed-in-the-wool Yanks (who know, understand & use off-roaders better than most humans around!) give a thumbs-up to the Roxor, then that's that!

Now the nit-pickers (the Roxor grill - some very funny posts on that, the "paint job" too came in for its share of tickles) will probably probably have to work harder & look under the carpet & elsewhere for their targets!

At last some one in Mahindra did not utilize the skills of Mahindra Customs!

I like the ROXOR very much and this vehicle has the unlimited potential to modify it as per the needs and requirements or to the owner's taste.

This little Roxor has a very big potential to take on the side by side category with hands on and i respect and appreciate Mahindra to take this bold step in US market.

The stock vehicle and the factory modifications are good options for the owners to choose from and that is a good start too.

I can see the sales of the vehicle being slow in the initial months but except it to make good numbers later.

I wish and looking forward to see it in SEMA 2018.

Well Done Mahindraclap:
