The Hyundai Tucson facelift has been unveiled at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. The updated SUV gets tweaked styling, a redesigned interior and new engines. It will go on sale in Europe this summer.



The exterior of Tucson facelift features a hexagonal "cascading grille" with 4 chrome slats flanked by full LED headlights with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper has been tweaked and features a new skid plate and revised fog lamp pods. At the rear, the Tucson gets a new bumper and tail lights. The reflectors are now slimmer and are positioned closer to the tail lamp clusters. Apart from this, the Tucson also gets new design alloy wheels.



As part of the update, the Tucson gets new interiors with a redesigned dashboard. It now features an 8.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. It has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity as well as 3D maps. The dual-tone dashboard has silver trim around the air-conditioning vents. The 3-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel as been carried over from the previous model.



In the global market, the new Tucson will be available with a 185 BHP, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The 1.6-litre diesel unit is available in two states of tune - 114 BHP and 132 BHP with a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive as standard. The latter gets an optional 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive. Petrol engine options include a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine with 131 BHP, 6-speed manual and front-wheel drive and a 176 BHP version with a choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT and optional four-wheel drive.



In terms of features, the new Tucson comes equipped with Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driver assistance features, which include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW). It also has features like 360-degree camera, rain sensing wipers, high beam assist and radar guided cruise control among others.

Finally the tucson gets better interiors - probably the only fly in the ointment along with lack of AWD in the Indian market.

That aside, I like how much more aggressive the front looks with the redesigned headlamps primarily!

Hope they launch this soon - with the nicer interiors, and a generally more reliable and comfort oriented brand, this should make it very tough for the new CR-V, and may even put a significant dent in the overpriced Tiguan's already limited sales.

I honestly like the design. It’s different in a good way that is, I see it as a perfect beater car for the rich folks. Now note that I don’t consider the Fortuner or the Endy in the same aspect because they are comparatively hard-core. This is a very nice soft-roader.

One thing I don’t like is the ‘floating’ screen. Seems like someone has just stuck a screen. If it had folded back and gone inside the dashboard, that would’ve been something else!

Agree with sub-par interiors part about the current generation Tucson, but AWD was launched last year itself, no?

If Hyundai adds the radar based features, 360-degree camera, cooled seats and panoramic sunroof in the facelift version over and above the already competent package available here in India, it will make the luxury crossovers pointless to a large extent just like there is not much value going above Endeavour for a ladder frame SUV.

Unless and until they launch the Tucson with a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats, I do not expect it to do any good numbers.

They have already launched it with a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. The new GLS+ variant.

Um, are you sure about this information? As far as I remember cartoq reported it as 'expected launch' for India , with no definite ETA. No such variant is listed on Hyundai Tucson India portal yet, either.
