Prakash Patel fired by Ford due to inappropriate behaviour

According to a media report, the man credited with bringing the 50th anniversary Mustang to life has left Ford after being accused of inappropriate behaviour. At the time of the ousting, Prakash Patel was Ford's global director for program management. He took over the role in January 2017.

In 2009, Patel was appointed as the program manager for the sixth-generation Mustang. It is said that in his office, Patel had a chart showing every single drivetrain and major options that have ever been available on a Mustang. In an earlier press release, Ford even called him "The Chef Who Seasons the Mustang Recipe". In between his stints at Ford, Patel also worked with Lincoln.

Earlier this year, former President of Ford North America, Raj Nair was removed after being accused of inappropriate behaviour. The report also suggests that Nair was Patel's supervisor for a period of time.

Launching the iconic Ford Mustang in India as a CBU & still not offering a "Manual Transmission" was pretty inappropriate behaviour as well.

Well said my brother, well said! Defeats logic.

Its shameful that people think that they can get away with anything, especially because they are in a position of high power and influence. People like Prakash and Rajiv Nair, both from Ford, were dismissed because multiple victims would have come forth and confessed.

Its people like them that brings a bad name to other hardworking and honest individuals, especially from the same society.

When top management people are sacked, it affects the company as a whole. Hope that Ford gets better management officials and thing settle down.

It's a wide-spread malaise. It's just that proper whistle blowing happens very rarely.

Re: Prakash Patel fired by Ford due to inappropriate behaviour

Can it be a case of an american company firing Indians because of trump administration. We are already aware that securing an H1B visa has become a really difficult task. He does not favour indians. And ford being one the companies which was bailed out during the recession time. Hence they have to obey the directions of the US administration.

LOL... even as a conspiracy theory this has no basis what so ever. They arent Indians anymore, they are American passport holders working in an american company. Trump infact is fond of Indians and an Indian analyst played a major role in Trump winning the election.

some inconsistencies

1, Ford was not bailed out
2, Ford is not required to follow goverment directions, unless ordered
3, There is no order to fire Indians
4, Trump does not favor outsourcing, he has nothing against Indians

People, please don't comment on Ford, they seem to be mighty touchy people .

See thread

to understand how touchy they are.

On a broader note, good to note that inappropriate behavior gets some negative reaction. Makes the world a better place.

Looks like a case of #MeToo movement catching up at Ford. It has happened in lots of US companies including major TV networks.

Sexual misconduct isn’t the only kind of misbehavior that can lead to a top gun’s ouster. Remember the Jeremy Clarkson incident, where he punched a TV crew member? JC was removed for "inappropriate behavior", despite an online petition garnering over 1 million votes.

Raj Nair is "more American" than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was born in Michigan while Arnie was born in Austria.

Had Mr.Patel punched someone, they won't call it inappropriate behavior. Actual act would be mentioned. Inappropriate behavior is corporate code-word for sexual harassment.

Ha! Tell me about it !

The notorius #HIMALWAYS from Infy and i-Gate was my classmate in school. While we were climbing the gates of the girls school or stalking the area for them, he was the good nerdy boy who stayed away and studied. he was the last person we expected to see in the headlines.

My previous company Intel sacked or rather forced its CEO to resign due to a consensual affair. They were open about the reason, it might have been a cover-up for other issues, god knows.

If Intel was bold to state the reason, why not Ford!

Re: Prakash Patel fired by Ford due to inappropriate behaviour

Guys, since when did ACCUSED become a bad thing? Why are we making someone 'guilty until proven innocent'? My neighbour can accuse me of stealing 500 bucks today, and a distant relative can accuse me of trying to murder him tomorrow? It is JUST AN ACCUSATION which has almost no value until it is PROVEN.

So, lets wait until there is an actual investigation by Ford or the authorities. Only the outcome of that will determine whether this accusation is true or false. I consider Patel to be 'innocent until proven guilty'.
