Close to the reveal of Skoda Vision RS Concept, the 'SKODA Rapid' prototype reveals its relation to the concept with the headlights and the grill.



However the name for the car is not yet revealed. Exclusive photos from an 'unnamed' prototype has been shared which is speculated as the next Gen. Skoda Rapid.

Expect the new Rapid in early 2019, and will only be offered as Rapid Spaceback (it may be that it will lose that Spaceback from its name)

The current generation of Škoda Rapid is built on the old PQ 26 platform, but the new generation will stand on the MQB modular chassis platform, which is used by the majority of models in the Volkswagen portfolio.

the new model should not only get better driving performance but also more interior space. And in the interior, the new model should come closer to the Octavia, so it should get a bigger and better multimedia system with a large touch screen, but also a better seat

The Vision RS Concept is 4356 mm long, 1810 mm wide, 1431 mm tall and has a 2650 mm wheelbase, similar Rapid should have a similar dimension.

The new Rapid will use a longer version of Volkswagen's MQB A0 platform, which will otherwise be acquired by the Škoda Smaller Crossover announced by the Vision X concept.

Bearing in mind the dimensions, it is expected that the new Rapid will offer enough spacious interior for a family car (the volume of the boot should be about 430 liters).

A 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine is expected to be available as the engine variants. However, as with diesel engines, not sure on it.

Production of the new rapid is to commence in the first half of 2019.

2019 Skoda Rapid Spaceback Makes Spy Debut At The Nürburgring circuit.

the first spy shots of the next-generation Rapid, which will bring significant changes to Skoda’s econobox. It might even drop the Rapid moniker to reflect the upcoming updates

Underpinned by the MQB A0 platform, which is already used by other VW Group models such as the Seat Ibiza and VW Polo, the new Rapid will try to steal sales from compact models like the Ford Focus, Opel Astra, and Kia Ceed.

Increasing the size of the new Rapid will allow Skoda to move the next-generation Octavia slightly upmarket, thus giving the brand a significant presence in the C-segment. The use of the MQB architecture means there should be no surprises in the engine department. Gasoline, diesel, and mild-hybrid powertrains from the VW Group are on the table, and they will be shared with the next-generation Fabia arriving in 2020.

Skoda releases the sketch of its the next Rapid,

Though it didn’t indicate what that new model will be called, the teaser image is labeled Spaceback, which is the handle it applies to the pseudo-wagon version of the Rapid. This new model is expected to replace the current Rapid (typically sold as a four-door sedan) with a more conventional five-door hatchback body-style

Skoda Scala a Latin-based name for its Rapid replacement, which will be revealed later this year.

The five-door Scala will be the first Skoda car to use the Volkswagen Group’s MQB A0 platform, which is already used on models such as the Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen T-Roc.
