but thats coz i was really confused.

I looooove the A8
And i Looove the S500
but i think both those cars...or atleast the S500 is a little to "oldish" for me at the moment.. ;-]

So now i am stuck between the A8 and the 740 .....yes.the 740...
Ive said it before and i am saying it again - I think that the new series (in greyish silver with nice tints) looks absolutely stunning... i like everyone else however dont like the rear styling. Im a HUGE fan of the earlier 7s as well.
I cant say the same about the new 5.....yuck!.....(just to show u guys that im not crazy ;-]

Hey actually i just made up my mind to vote for the 7 but it says i have aldready voted!! hahahaha
oops...really didnt know that

Hey Rehan, thats cool..I love the 7 myself, love it in many colors and the one you mentioned as well, but I think they could have done a much better job with the back side, it really stinks...(may be not that bad, it looks ok in some colors, especially when it is sparkling clean), but the insides are a little over done..i dont know but i would have prefered a more merc simple elegant look inside..but if i had the money i would get it, give it to one of the best body shops and get myself a new back for the 7 ... (I hope thats possible)

l8r

ps:- i loved the last gen 7, loved it like crazi and yes hated the new 5 too..

We did a compare of the 745, S500, LS430 and new XJ8 Vanden Plas at work in a training programme last year. Somebody on this post rightly pointed out the several issues with the 745. Personally, I totally agreed with the cool reception of the iDrive. It's more of a liability, designed to distract the driver !! I rated these cars as:

1) Merc S500 *(pretty darn good, poor reliability)
2) Lexus LS430 (great drive, vfm, but boring)
3) Jag XJ8 (the older XJs were more stylish)
4) BMW 745 (good looks)

The A8 is a good car, too. My 2 cents.

I too voted for the BMW. What if it got "Bangled" a bit, it's still a BMW!!!

So there you have it, me 'n' Rehaan. That makes it 2 votes for the BMW.

It is still a BMW, but not in the truest sense. The new BMW 7 series really has hardly any fans around the world - be it from motoring journalists or from car enthusiasts.

It is laden with gremlins and constantly recurring problems, has a complicated I-drive, is utterly unreliable and looks like something the NASA returned with from mars.

Hey Shan2nu, thats like comparing apples and oranges right but anyways if you had that kind of money then you would be able to buy s2000, BMW and whatever else your heart desires that to almost once a year..so having a choice will not come into the picture and since s2000 would be right about half the price; hell you will buy those kind of cars twice a year

cheers

And I thought the point of this topic was to choose ONE of the four choices being offered.

Hey guys,

Yeah, believe me i love the S class and the A8, but i just saw the 7series as more of a car i would buy (if ever).

I agree the iDrive is as dumb as round dice.
Dont forget about the engine though, that is quite a work of technology!

anyway...alteast we will have some variation whenteam-bhp meets up 50years from now ;-]

since u guys feel so bad for me that i chose the 745 give me a 760 instead ;-]

hey v12...have u seen it parked at the pedder road petrol pump? its an older gen a8 thats sometimes there amongst the a4 and a6?

Dippy: They never mentioned it in the job responsibilities. Your friend from Sydney must've stressed out.

Consumer reports verdict:
'The ride is steady but not as absorbent at low speeds as in the Mercedes S-Class. The cabin is very roomy and well furnished, but ultimately the car misses the mark as a luxury sedan. Reliability has been poor.'
(source : as told by consumers who actually own the product.)
