This is called catching the crayfish in the ocean when the whale itself has escaped. Seriously, what do they think they will achieve by arresting these people. Will this act as a deterrent for other people helping fugitives fleeing the country? I doubt. The amount of moolah that these guys must have got paid would have made them take any kind of risk.

As per this Washington Post report, Ghosn just walked out and went away. None of those thrilling escape stories proved true. Of course, how he cleared or fooled the immigration control is still a mistery.

Re: Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn arrested in Tokyo. EDIT: Carlos escapes from Japan!

Ghosn has a long way to go compared to India's best.

Some our Indian industry titans, whom I will not name, have Ministries and Ambassadors , members of the INTERPOL FOUNDATION in their friends circle. To the point where they can fly straight point to point without altering their face.

A famed Andhrawallah MP got a stay on an INTERPOL RED CORNER NOTICE which was issued by the US for being part of a shady business venture with a Russian fellow.

I'm sure there are a few big names in India who INTERPOL actively pursued but was never even publicized due to that person's influence. A very prominent name in the aviation industry comes to mind.

Ghosn's escape was unceremonious and even degrading for someone of his stature. I suspect India's best legal gymnasts know better methodologies.

Guy should've bought a Falcon 2000. I've seen private onboarding. You pull up to a far end of a non-commercial airport, a black gate opens and your ride is waiting 20 feet from the gate. You step on and take off in less than 15 minutes.

India's best will only stay protected in India. Ghosn had no hope in Japan. He might be guilty but the suffering he is forced to ensure while awaiting due legal process is difficult to justify.

Ideally, his case should be fought in the International's Cost of Justice.

Saying that, in Lebanon, he will be as same as an Indian politician over here. Their system is as corrupt if not more.

Once an industry pioneer and a visionary.
Now an international fugitive. And on the run.
I hope justice is served - whichever way it leans.

Looks like the above theory of mine could be turning out to be true.

Reason 1:

Carlos Ghosn caught on camera leaving home alone and not returning. Link

Reason 2:

Zero arrests in Japan. (And 7 in Turkey)

Re: Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn arrested in Tokyo. EDIT: Carlos escapes from Japan!

Full details on his escape. An excellent article by Bloomberg (as always) - link:

Quote:
In the shadowy world of private-security contractors, Michael Taylor was a swashbuckler who stood out. He protected powerful people and companies, secretly helped the U.S. government investigate crimes, and admitted breaking the law himself. A veteran of the U.S. Army’s elite Special Forces—the famed Green Berets—Taylor in 1994 founded American International Security Corp., a Boston-area contractor that provided security for oil drilling operations and corporate executives, and rescued abducted children among other assignments. He was hired by The New York Times to mount a rescue of David Rohde, a correspondent who’d been kidnapped in 2008 in Afghanistan. (Rohde ultimately escaped on his own). He also worked as an undercover asset for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency and other federal bodies.

Re: Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn arrested in Tokyo. EDIT: Carlos escapes from Japan!

Another link describing the full story has also appeared but only in text in our media. The Bloomberg link is well illustrated too !

It's pathetic to know about the very torturous Japanese justice system where an accused has to seek permission from the court to talk to his spouse or family members on the phone. Moreover, his case would most likely come up for the next hearing only in 2021. And he was confined, under survelliance and full watch by the government and also Nissan's hired detectives. The latter gave up after being told about moving court to restrain them.

Carlos Ghosn may have evaded the law and escaped, but it is evident that he was in for a gruelling phase ahead.

Absolutely brilliant stuff. I like the fact that he is leading the offensive himself. France’s silence is just deafening.

This guy will not go down without a fight. He hasn’t gone into hiding. I wish this goes to the ICJ and Japan is forced to fight on equal footing.

Believe me, Lebanon's borders are porous! He still might have another passport - perhaps Antigua or Malta!
