Mercedes revealed the teaser image of the new CLA ahead of its reveal at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month, Jan 8th to 11th.
Considering how smashing the new A-Class looks, I feel the CLA will up the game for Mercedes when it comes to design.

That falling roofline after the B pillar is a bit too sharp. Wonder what the headroom is going to be like for the rear passengers. From the teaser, the rear looks more like a 2 door coupe even though I can see the rear door pretty clearly on the image.

Mercedes CLA Coupe revealed.

The sedan's new generation will arrive in late 2019, and Mercedes will announce pricing info closer to launch.

When it goes on sale in the U.S., the little four-door is only available as the CLA250 with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Buyers can choose between front- or all-wheel drive. The mill produces 221 horsepower (165 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque, which is quite an upgrade over the turbo 2.0-liter in the A220 sedan with 188 hp (140 kW) and 221 lb-ft (299 Nm).

The latest CLA-Class grows a little over the previous generation. Overall length is up 1.9 inches (48 millimeters) to 184.6 inches (4,688 mm), and the wheelbase increases by 1.1 inches (30 mm) to 107.4 inches (2,729 mm). The company also pushes out the wheel tracks by stretching them 2.5 inches (63 mm) at the front and 2.2 inches (55 mm) at the rear. The greater size doesn't translate to big boosts in cabin space because front legroom decreases by 0.04 inches (1 mm) and rear legroom grows by 1 mm. In the trunk, cargo capacity decreases by 0.35 cubic feet (10 liters) to a total of 16.24 cubic feet (460 liters).

If any of these design cues get carried on to the next C class, I would buy one. They are bringing the design hitherto used on sports cars to passenger cars (including somewhat impractical rear seats?). Looking at the trunk but reduced capacity, the rear seats would be pushed back into a claustrophobic position.

That is one beautiful baby CLS! I am love with Mercs again. Their earlier designs were a turn off but this current sharp lines are bringing the good old mercedes back. I just hope that these cars are as reliable and built like a tank like our W124.
