USA: Uber resumes autonomous vehicle testing

Earlier this year, Uber’s autonomous car was involved in a pedestrian fatality in Arizona, following which it suspended testing. The company has now resumed testing with additional safety measures in Pittsburgh.

The ride-sharing company has secured permission from the state of Pennsylvania to resume autonomous vehicle testing. Initially, the company would start with a few cars near its offices.

Uber has also said that there will be 2 employees in each vehicle and testing would be limited to a maximum speed of 25 mph. The cars will not be operated at night or in wet weather conditions. The company will also enable automatic braking system.

It is also reported that Uber plans to resume testing in Toronto and San Francisco.
