2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

https://www.autocarindia.com/car-new...S2I6XMsiwJkGIU

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...25.html#agal_7

Looks a lot more like the X7 from the front now and a lot like the 3 series from the rear

Comment :

I know inflated liver indicates a genuine problem in the digestive system. What does inflated kidneys suggest ?

That grill is huge. HUGE. Extremely disproportionate to the headlights.

BMW have to remember to make a S Class killer, not take their car, make all highlight elements larger and resell as a facelift.

Pathetic IMO, if this is the final release version.

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

I think they lost the goodness of kidney grill when it started to descend below the top of bumper line. It also extends into the bonnet surface. The surfaces are not that smooth and dont appear taut anymore.

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

Well, I had foretold in a Lexus thread to get used to the chin/grille phenomenon and it might catch on.
Sadly, it looks like it might be happening.

Cheers.

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

Does it really need such a huge grille? IMHO the current one is the best size. Also I hope it doesn't get the Lexus-like rear design from the G20 3 series. That would not look good.

I feel that smaller tweaks would've been better instead of a full redesign.

Cheers!

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

Oh my! Is the sedan sharing more parts with the X7 nowadays?

This looks very much like the Vision Future Luxury Concept - that massive cheese grater err. the grille, the fold on the bumper etc.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/inter...coming-up.html (BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept: 9-Series coming up?)

BMW is making life easier for Mercedes.

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

I feel that cars of this size and length should feel like a limousine, not like a car that is stretched from its previous model.

In that respect and me being an admirer of the designs of the early 00's, I feel the best 7 Series ever was the E65, the 2nd best was the F01.. both had a limo feel to them and the alloys, the rear design and simplistic interiors gave a great feel of luxury over sportiness.

BMW have lost the plot completely when it comes to design today, the kidney grille resembled kidneys earlier.. today they are two large chambers flanked by vertical slats. When you desecrate two iconic representations of BMW like the kidney grille and corona rings/angel eyes then you are straying way too far from what the brand is.

The 7 Series should be pure luxury, if they try to make it look like a longer 5 series and a much longer 3 Series then Mercedes S Class will beat it hollow.

Design-wise, Merc are hitting it out of the park while BMW bury their heads in the sand-pit in the kiddie section.

Something seriously wrong with the BMW design department nowadays. The cheerful yet sporty face is giving way to wacky over-the-top makeovers. Mercedes and even Volvo are doing much better job with their pleasing designs.

re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

Well from that angle it looks a bit strange, but I will reserve my comments until I see some more pictures. But looks like BMW has gone with a rather major facelift, as compared to all the LCIs we've been seeing over the last few years.

I think it will look like the Vision future luxury concept shown earlier. Which is not a bad thing!!

Re: 2019 BMW 7-Series Facelift

It would look passably OK if the grille was the size of the faint outline visible within caused by chrome elements (top in line with the headlamps).

As is, it's just UGLY!
