It looks like a perfect mashup of the Volvo S90 and new Honda Civic.

The new one looks radical from those shots. Hyundai would like to up their game in the executive size category with the new Accord redefining the style and the Camry also going for a sporty image with luxury overtures.
Personally, I love this car. I have had 2 of these and they are a pleasure to own. Very comfortable, spacious , feature packed and reliable. Too bad the brand does not have the image here in this country to play at the price bracket where this sells.

Damn, that does look like a knockoff of the Civic + Volvo. Not cool. For one, I don't like the styling, be it the original or the imitator. Second, IMHO, Hyundai is now a mega-brand that doesn't need to copy anyone. The company can develop its own design language. Copying isn't well received by the market; the Sonata Embera got a lot of flack for its Accord-like derrière.

If Mahindra can sell a 15 - 20 lakh product (XUV500), Hyundai can easily sell a 30-lakh car. But the company needs to support its premium cars well. The previous Sonatas got absolutely no marketing or sales support. Heck, even test-drive cars weren't available in so many cities.

There was a time when Mercedes introduced the stunning CLS, Hyundai influenced with that design philosophy introduced the 2011 Sonata.

Then the Audi grilles design language was used in New Verna, Elantra & also the Genesis.

Nowadays the Volvo designs are doing well, hence such design shades can be seen in this 2020 Sonata.

To me it looks more like the latest Honda Civic especially those taillights. Hyundai is a manufacturer who gets influenced very easily by others . I don't know when will they have something unique.

Hyundai's Audi influence probably can be attributed to Peter Schreyer who moved from Audi to Hyundai/Kia. Not sure if they have also got in any Ex-Volvo designers

2020 Hyundai Sonata to get digital key

Owners can download a smartphone app and then use it to unlock and start the vehicle. This is done using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and Hyundai says the Sonata will come equipped with three NFC antennas. One will be located in each front door handle, while the third is integrated into the wireless charging pad in the center console.

The digital key also saves the user’s preferences, so the car will automatically adjust the position of the driver’s seat,steering wheel and mirrors. It will also setup the infotainment system and head-up display according to their tastes.

The Sonata will be able to recognize up to four different digital keys and owners will be available to provide other users with different levels of access. For example, the company says couriers could be given temporary access to open the trunk to drop off a package. The company also envisions the digital key could be used as part of a car-sharing program.

Following its debut on the Sonata, the digital key will gradually spread to new vehicles. There’s no word on which model will receive the technology next, but Hyundai’s Ho Yoo said “The digital key will benefit a very wide range of future Hyundai customers, as well as enabling innovative new schemes for vehicle sharing.”

2020 Hyundai Sonata revealed,

The new mid-size sedan comes with a 30mm (1.2 in.) lower height and a width extended by 25mm (1 in.). Its wheelbase is extended by 35mm (1.4 in), and its whole length by 45mm (1.8 in.).

Also the 2001 Sonata that was launched in India which has cues from the Mercedes and Jaguars of the time.

I like the new one though I'm very happy to see that the LED strip lights from end to end are becoming a feature on more and more cars these days. I love it on the Dodge's and the Porsche's.

Save for the connected tail lamps, it resembled a Honda Civic. Loved the interiors thoroughly and specially that new steering wheel design. Front is good too. But that huge oddly placed DRL irks me a bit. Will take some higher time to grow up on me. The DRL integrate well to the chrome bits that extend to the mirror that further make up for the entire beltline and window line. I can already imagine this car in black with black tinted windows and all that chrome replaced by LED strips that merge with the DRL among the gangsta Hip Hop rapper community
