Nivus will be positioned on the price list between Polo and T-Cross, but the brand's policy is to make a small overlap in the base and top-of-the-line versions.

Despite having the same wheelbase as the Pole (2.56 m), the Nivus is 20.9 cm longer than the hatch. Compared to The T-Cross, it is and 6.7 cm larger. When we look at the height the situation reverses: the T-Cross is 7.5 cm taller than the Nivus.

Nivus with VW Play - a new multimedia center of the brand that brings news in terms of connectivity, streaming and services.

Nivus brings this technology platform capable of reading virtually all media formats, gathering information from the vehicle, sound system, connectivity (wireless for IOS), content streaming, applications and services.

As Volkswagen readies to roll out its biggest launch this year in Brazil, details and pricing are out:

- 1.0 three-cylinder turbo flex of 128 hp of power and 20.4 kgfm of torque with ethanol. The AT will be Aisin's six-speed automatic.

-There will be three versions:
Trendline 200 TSI (entry, which can actually go unnamed)
Comfortline 200 TSI (intermediate)
Highline 200 TSI (top).
-The last of the options will have the R-Line finish available)

- R$ 79,990 by Nivus Trendline ( ~₹ 11 lakhs)
R$ 88,990 for Comfortline (~ ₹ 12.3 lakhs )
R$ 97,990 for Highline, ~₹ 13.52 lakhs (not counting optional or metallic paint)

-The COUPE SUV will come standard with six airbags from the most basic variant


-From the cheapest option:
Electric steering, manual air conditioning, stability and traction controls, electronic differential lock, ramp start assistant, headlights with electric mirrors with tilt down function, split rear seat, steering wheel with height and depth adjustment, autopilot, rear parking sensors and electric windows.

- Nivus will not have 100% digital instrument frame

-Front grille, B column, ceiling rack and door knobs are black. The optical set features headlights and DRL, the flashlights are LED, the rearview mirrors carry arrows, the wheels are 16 inches and the multimedia center is 7 inches.

The Highline variant is the most complete of the model. It comes standard with decorative panel appliques, synthetic leather seats, chrome internal details, twilight and rain sensors, fatigue detection, aluminum pedals, automatic post-collision braking and 17 rim wheels with the "Mestics" design.The version also gains silver roof rack, access to the vehicle and engine start without key, front and rear parking sensors and front collision alert.

Pricing:

The entry-level version will cost R$79,990 (~$14,800, at current exchange rates), which is R$8,800 ($1,600) less than the R$88,790 ($16,400) currently needed for the manual-equipped T-Cross 200 TSI.
The Nivus will use the same 1.0 turbocharged engine that makes 128 horsepower (95 kilowatts), but it's only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Higher Nivus trims will also be cheaper than T-Cross. The Nivus Highline will cost R$97,990 ($18,100), a difference of R$20,700 ($3,800) compared to T-Cross Highline with its 1.4-liter, 150-hp (111-kW) engine. Even the bigger brother's Comfortline version is much more expensive than the top-of-the-line Nivus, as it costs R$110,260 ($20,400) or R$12,360 ($2,300) more than the T-Cross.

Perhaps VW plans to introduce the new platform of the Polo in the form of the Nivus thus being able to charge a premium which would not be possible if they bring the new Polo as is to India.

However how would they position it vis-a-vis the Taigun when it is brought to India. Surely they are not planning a CKD import at that price point?

VW NIVUS, Polo and T Cross - VW utilizes its MQB Platform and shows its advantages as revealed in pics below:

Due to the sharing of the MQB A0 platform, virtually all dimensions of the front are the same. This is the case of the driver's leg and head space and the distance from the backrest to the steering wheel.

With same doors, ceiling and windscreen, Polo and Nivus are actually very similar inside. The space for the occupants is identical in both cars, with the only uniqueness of the Nivus having rear seat 1 cm higher.

Despite the raised suspension at 2.7 cm and the roof rack, the Nivus is only 2.5 cm taller than the Polo and 10 cm shorter than a T-Cross. The suspension of the T-Cross is only 1.5 cm higher than that of Nivus.

T-Cross has higher seats. The front is 2 cm taller and the rear, up to 4 cm, which improves the visibility of those traveling in the back seat of the compact SUV.

Therefore, also, the advantage in head space in the rear seat is only 1 cm

The 9 cm longer wheelbase results in 5 cm more leg span in the rear seat in the T-Cross compared to Polo and Nivus. The cabin is 3 cm wider at the front.

In the outer width, the Nivus has gained 0.6 cm compared to the Polo due to the frames of the wheel boxes. But the distance between the front doors is the same.

The 0.1 cm more in the wheelbase comes from the exclusive suspension geometry, which also leaves it 1 cm higher than that of the hatch

But much of the 20.9 cm more in length (6.7 cm advantage compared to the T-Cross) are concentrated in the rear swing.

That's why, in addition to being the longest of the three, the Nivus has the largest trunk, 415 liters. However, the compartment is not divided into two levels as in the brothers.

Nicely differentiated with respect to the TCross, or Taigun as it will be called in India. Nivus is the youthful version and the Taigun is the practical one.

Perhaps - VW should consider the Nivus for the Indian market as well - considering the same underpinnings. Looks very appealing and will help establish their footing in the SUV (actually crossover) crazy Indian market.

VW's latest CUV seems to be in demand.

VW Nivus Highline sells out in less than 10 minutes on pre-orders.
