New Hyundai Elantra - it'll surprise you

Quote:
While the old car looked somewhat like it'd been assembled from the spoils of random parts bin raids, this new one adopts a very different look. The Avante's is a clean, grown-up shape, one that incorporates Hyundai's now standard re-curved shoulder line motif.
The nose is a scaled down take on the Sonata's and the Azera's, while the rear has echoes of the Lexus IS'. All the detailing is very nicely resolved, and the car looks very contemporary.

The front looks Corolla-ish and the interiors are inspired by the Mitsubishi Grandis. Hyundai has made these "inspirations" quite pleasant along their models

Side Profile of the car looks too heavy devoid of lines and its somehow looking uglier . I prefer the current one with a facelifted front end than this one . Interiors are better though. They are going the chinese way with Elantra and Sonata - getting too many design ques from other cars , in short - not 'O R I G I N A L'. Now when I say this I know many are going to jump on me and say if the new S class can copy from 7 series(dash board/centre console) why cant hyundai , the answer is they can but they should have atleast made it look good like they did to Sonata !

Hmmm.... Anyway, it's a Hyundai. So, I am not going to like it.
But still... Let me try;

The car looks a bit bigger now. Looks better (than the curent one) in profile for me. Looks a bit of Santro-ish. Tall boy inspired.. shall I say??
The interiors are good. Don't look like an exact copy. Ofcourse, like all Hyundais; it's Inspired.
By the way which car looks unique in interiors these days?? Yes, very few!!!

I tried again, But I think it's not time for me to go for a Hyundai!!

There is speculation that Avante might be launched sooner than expected, around mid-2008. http://www.financialexpress.com/news...launch/262161/

That will give some choice for me in case Fiat postpones Linea launch later than this September. Hope new Corolla diesel also gets launched by then.

The Mitsus dash reminds me of the City. The AC vents of Mitsu looks like two speakers added to a console. like you haev a monitor and two speakers.

The Hyundai looks bigger and meaner and its lights remind me of Corolla.

Indians would be interested in their diesel engine than its petrol one.

Would be funny if they introduce it in India as Avante.

The interiors look okay. But I find the exterior design ugly for the Hyundai.

I prefer the looks of the present Elantra over this new Avante. On the other hand, the auto tranny layout in the new Avante scores over the Elantra.

New Elantra in China

I came across the new Elantra while walking home yesterday. This was a brand new car. I had never seen one of these on roads before. I found the looks impressive. I liked it.

People who are waiting for the facelifted Elantra, this might help.

I thought they named it Avante everywhere. So, they are retaining the Elantra name in China.

The rear lights does have a resemblance to the Present Corolla! Man this guys do take a lot of inspirations from other cars. When will they bring a car which is originally Hyundai's design??

The front of that car screams Civic while the rear does Corolla. Why Hyundai, why? Just look at that trademark "H" honda grille.

Agree with you GTO. Definitely resembles the city/civic in front and corolla at the back.

Only the side profile seems "original" with a striking similarity to the verna.

OT: The black car in the background, the Chrysler, which model is that?
