The next-generation Range Rover has been spotted testing with the body of the current Range Rover. The fifth-generation car is reported to be launched in 2022.



The next-generation car could be based on a new aluminium platform called Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA). The new platform is said to be still under development and it could support mild-hybrid, hybrid and electric powertrains. Reports suggest that it could be re-engineered to support hydrogen fuel cell powertrains.

Powering the SUV will be a range of petrol and diesel powertrains, which could include mild-hybrid straight-six petrol and diesel powertrains, along with plug-in hybrids. A fully-electric version could also be offered. Reports suggest that the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine could be replaced by a different V8 engine, which is likely to be sourced from BMW. BMW offers a 4.4-litre V8 engine with the 7-Series, 8-Series, X5 and the X7.



The spy shots indicate that the next generation car could be longer than the car on sale today. While the exterior design is expected to be evolutionary, the new platform could result in a new interior architecture. However, physical buttons and rotary dials are expected to remain.

Am sure it'll be classy, timeless, proportionate, gangster = just like any Range Rover . One manufacturer whose ENTIRE line-up of cars looks amazing. What Range Rover really needs to do with their next generation cars now is fix the reliability & exorbitant pricing in India. In every other area, they are sorted. But these two are rather serious pain points. Reliability should now be a given on any car.

Sourcing engines from BMW isn't surprising. The two companies have a history. Plus, why reinvent the wheel when someone else is doing it so well? Jaguar-Land Rover can spend their money on emerging technologies instead of big petrols which have reached their peak.

The contract with Ford for the V8 engines is ending as Ford will be shutting down the plant in Bridgend Wales.

LOVE that thin DRL making its way from the front grill to the fenders!

Although this a just a concept render, I think some of these features like the DRL, under thigh support in rear seats, floating screen on the dash, rear lamps, etc could be a safe bet to expect on the final version.
I hope for once Tata attempts CKD of the vogue in India. I would switch my w222 S for this in a heart beat over the next gen S!

Got really high hopes from this one. From a little birdy at JLR and as seen in the pics above they are extensively taking cues from the GLS Maybach just like they had leased / bought a few Tesla model Xs at the time of creating the i Pace. I really hope they nail this one.

Land Rover Range Rover new spy shots reveal redesigned grille

A mild-hybrid straight-six powertrain is expected to power the entry-level model, with the PHEV being available as an option. The non-hybrid Range Rover could continue using Land Rover’s supercharged 5.0-liter, though it could opt to use BMW’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.
