Default Volvo buys Nissan Diesel

Volvo will buy Nissan Diesel for $1.1 billion, after which it will own the Volvo, Renault, Mack and Nissan truck brands.

The Nissan Diesel deal is expected to fill their medium/medium-heavy truck portfolio and give them a bigger foothold in Asia.

The term 'Nissan Diesel' here refers to the Nissan Diesel Motor Co which is the truckmaking arm of Nissan.

It does not refer to ALL diesel engines made by Nissan. I'm sure they will continue to manufacture their own diesel engines for their cars.

In much the same way, Volvo also bought Renault's truckmaking arm - that did not stop Renault from making diesel engines for their own cars, even if Renault trucks are made by Volvo and not Renault.
