Re: Mahindra loses Roxor (Jeep lookalike) case in US

I read all the negative comments about the Roxor, posted by fellow Indians in the T-BHP!

I felt ashamed that some members have literally commented against a reputed manufacturer like Mahindra and compared it against the Chinese companies who do Copy/Paste jobs!

Mahindra has launched a good vehicle in the Side x Side category in the USA and the Roxor has done very well. The changes incorporated in the Roxor after the verdict has made it a better vehicle.

The automatic 6 speed transmission has also added the choice from manual to auto.

Additional features and retro fitting available right from the factory or at dealership level has made it more likable.

It is a handy vehicle for Farms, Ranch, Rescue, Recreation activities and comes with Diesel fuel engine, so that it can use the same RED Diesel used by other farm/ranch vehicles.

Roxor proving better than ATVs on the farms/ranch in terms of load capacity, towing capacity, old school body on frame construction, etc. makes it much more value for money.

Ease of converting Roxor into a street legal vehicle is also a feature that put FCA take notice of it!

Roxor entering BAJA and coming 3rd in its category further confirms its reliability and dependability as a good vehicle from a reputed Indian OEM.

If i remember correctly, Roxor also won few offroad/Rock crawling competitions in the USA.

Roxor has the potential to be a success in the USA and it has proven itself for reaching there.

Exports of it from the USA to South America etc will further prove its worth!

Well done Mahindra

Re: Mahindra loses Roxor (Jeep lookalike) case in US

Nice ad. Roxor just needs a fascia change. And it has already established an identity in US now. I wonder if the legal battle actually helped in that cause. A lot more people other than 4x4 enthusiasts would also have noticed it because of the fight. Now that the identity is established, the CJ face can be done away with.

US side by side users welcomed the intial Roxor because there was nothing like it in the market. They appreciated Roxor's core ideology rather than the jeep face. I am sure Mahindra marketing can pull it off with a different face and a bit of clever effort.

Whatever they had going with the earlier classic looks, they have lost it with this one.

Looks horrible to be honest. Is this the best they could do with world class designers who brought XUV500. I would not want to been seen on road with this one.

That is just horrendous.

So as long as they were aping they were doing alright, the minute they were told to be original, they come up with this. You will find takers for this budget little product given the American country folks and their penchant for off road shenanigans, but not looking like that.

Looks like one of those makeshift contraptions that your neighbor hood garage comes up with, with parts lying around.

The tapering bottom grille and those round headlamp make it look like some sort of an alien robot.
A non-tapering lower grille plus a perfect square with rounded corners headlamp design would make it look so much better.

Mahindra owns " Pininfarina " right ?

They could have taken the US Court ruling as an opportunity and done way better than this. This looks like a glorified tractor

Very mid-century modern, totally goofy outcome. Worth a few laughs. Indian manufacturing is totally ready to take on the world, but design is lagging. Ask a certain Sid Lal.

That's such a very moustache-y look I must say.

Reminds me of some actor in a movie..... can't recollect whom...

Wall-E anyone?

Personally, I liked Wall-E but this Roxor design is hideous.

Re: Mahindra loses Roxor (Jeep lookalike) case in US

Does Mahindra has any say in Pininfarina? (They still own it right?) Why cant they rope them in?
How does Pininfarina feel when they look at new Roxor, a product from its parent company.

I for one like it. Is it handsome? hell no, but boy is it quirky!
I see potential for crazy mods and upgrades. If the thing had thick tires on a wider track, it would certainly don a strangely cool look.

This looks like an ugli-fied cross between the Bronco and a Sarpanch Tractor.

This is the poorest design effort, I have seen in this decade.
