Aston Martin bailed out by Lawrence Stroll

Lawrence Stroll, the part owner of F1's Racing Point, has led a team of investors to bail out the iconic Aston Martin brand.
Quote:
The ailing carmaker said in a statement Friday that Canadian Lawrence Stroll, who is part owner of the Racing Point Formula 1 team, is leading a group that will pay £182 million ($239 million) for 16.7% of the company. Aston Martin will then raise an additional £318 million ($417 million) through the issue of new shares, some of which will be purchased by Stroll's consortium.
As to what happens to Racing Point, they will be renamed as Aston Martin F1 from 2021 onwards.

Is Aston Martin moving towards shut down?

Aston Martin has suffered £277 million losses in first half of 2020 leading to manpower curtailment and other measures.

Quote:
The pandemic meant that Aston Martin sold only 1,770 cars in the first six months of 2020, down 41% compared with 2019. It sold only one of its highly lucrative “special” cars, such as the £2.7m DB5 Goldfinger Continuation, which comes with a smokescreen emitter and fake tyre slashers and machine guns to mirror the car made famous by the James Bond film. Last year it sold 36.

Aston Martin

The first thing I would cut if I were in a 277 million loss is motorsport expenditure. But they're all set to buy/launch a new F1 team next year.

Re: Aston Martin bailed out by Lawrence Stroll

I seriously wanted to buy AML stock but thank god I did not. When th price was low, I considered it, after doing my research, it is so badly rated, quality and momentum is at the bottom of the pile, only trait is value - rated as a sucker stock. An equivalent in India would be Bombay Dyeing
